[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) Soil erosion and sediment yields are the current limitations and future threats to agriculture, water resources and hydropower projects particularly in developing countries. Estimating the extent and comprehending the spatial distribution of hotspot area is crucial to implement evidence-based soil and water conservation (SWC) measures with limited resources. The study used RUSLE and SDR models in ArcGIS 10.8 environment. The RUSLE model was found to be highly sensitive to C factor followed by LS factor. The result indicated that the annual soil loss varies from 0 to 359.99 t ha−1 yr−1 with 22.31 t ha−1 yr−1 as a mean annual. Besides, the estimated sediment yield ranged from 0 to 42.5 t ha−1 yr−1 with a mean value of 12.02 t ha−1 yr−1. The finding revealed that the central west (SW_5) and northeast (SW_4) parts of the watershed yield higher sediment. The result also signified that about 52.9% of the eroded materials including soil and nutrients are transferred to the outlet. The outcome of our finding undoubtedly aids in the identification of hotspot areas for the adoption of appropriate SWC measures. Hence, adopting RUSLE and SDR for Gununo watershed and another watershed having similar biophysical and environmental factors is suggested. [Termes IGN] séparateur à vaste margeRésumé : (auteur) Suspended sediment concentration (SSC) is one of the primary reasons with respect to watersheds or river basins, which must be assessed in a correct manner so that it will help decision makers to make right decisions regarding hydraulic structure, flash-flood, flood-mitigation of the basin. The present research evaluated efficacy of a hybrid model integrating Support Vector Machine with Whale optimization algorithm (SVM-WOA) for predicting SSC at Sundargarh and Salebhata stations in Mahanadi River, India. Various quantitative statistical evaluation constrains are applied to evacuate the model performance. Also, model performance of SVM-WOA is compared with SVM-PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) and conventional SVM and RBFN (Radial Basis Function Network) models. The results reveal that, SVM-WOA performed superiorly in comparison to SVM-PSO, SVM and RBFN models for five different input scenarios during both training and testing phases. Hence, it is recommended to apply SVM-WOA as an appropriate technique for hydrological simulation at the basin. [Termes IGN] spectrométrieRésumé : (auteur) The northeast area of Ardabil, a city located in northwestern Iran, is one of the potential gold mineralization areas. In this study, ASTER data were used to identify the alteration events in this region. For this purpose, a novel approach was used in which the fuzzy logic was implemented to extract the co-occurrence map of the endmembers. This method revealed alterations more accurately than SID. Stream sediment samples were employed to validate the obtained results. Since these samples are alluvial, their catchment basins were determined and overlaid with the alteration maps. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this validation approach has not been used in previous studies. The extracted alteration zones were in high conformity to the stream sediment samples. Next, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and field spectrometry were used for delineation of the mineralogical phases present in the anomalous areas. Finally, the potential gold mineralization zones were identified. [Termes IGN] surveillance du littoralRésumé : (auteur) Advances in image-based remote sensing using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and structure-from-motion (SfM) photogrammetry continue to improve our ability to monitor complex landforms over representative spatial and temporal scales. As with other water-worked environments, coastal sediments respond to shaping processes through the formation of multi-scale topographic roughness. Although this topographic complexity can be an important marker of hydrodynamic forces and sediment transport, it is seldom characterized in typical beach surveys due to environmental and technical constraints. In this study, we explore the feasibility of using SfM photogrammetry augmented with an RTK quadcopter for monitoring the coastal topographic complexity at the beach-scale in a macrotidal environment. The method had to respond to resolution and time constraints for a realistic representation of the topo-morphological features from submeter dimensions and survey completion in two hours around low tide to fully cover the intertidal zone. Different tests were performed at two coastal field sites with varied dimensions and morphologies to assess the photogrammetric performance and eventual means for optimization. Our results show that, with precise image positioning, the addition of a single ground control point (GCP) enabled a global precision (RMSE) equivalent to that of traditional GCP-based photogrammetry using numerous and well-distributed GCPs. The optimal model quality that minimized vertical bias and random errors was achieved from 5 GCPs, with a two-fold reduction in RMSE. The image resolution for tie point detection was found to be an important control on the measurement quality, with the best results obtained using images at their original scale. Using these findings enabled designing an efficient and effective workflow for monitoring coastal topographic complexity at a large scale. [Termes IGN] sédimentRésumé : (auteur) The present study investigates the capability of two metaheuristic optimization approaches, namely the Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (BOA) and the Genetic Algorithm (GA), integrated with machine learning models in Suspended Sediment Load (SSL) prediction. The Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) are applied as the predictive data-driven models. Independent input variables, i.e., the water temperature (T), river discharge (Q), and specific conductance (SC) are used for the prediction of SSL based on several statistical indices. The results indicate that the performances of all studied models were close to one another; moreover, the metaheuristic algorithms were found to increase the accuracy of the ANFIS and ANN models for approximately 11.73 percent and 4.30 percent, respectively. In general, the BOA outperformed the GA in enhancing the optimization performance of the learning process in the applied machine learning models.
