[Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (Auteur) Archaeological recording of structures and excavations in high mountain areas is greatly hindered by the scarce availability of both space, to transport material, and time. The Madriu-Perafita-Claror, InterAmbAr and PCR Mont Lozère high mountain projects have documented hundreds of archaeological structures and carried out many archaeological excavations. These projects required the development of a technique which could record both structures and the process of an archaeological excavation in a fast and reliable manner. The combination of DGPS, close-range terrestrial stereophotogrammetry and voxel based GIS modelling offered a perfect solution since it helped in developing a strategy which would obtain all the required data on-site fast and with a high degree of precision. These data are treated off-site to obtain georeferenced orthoimages covering both the structures and the excavation process from which site and excavation plans can be created. The proposed workflow outputs also include digital surface models and volumetric models of the excavated areas from which topography and archaeological profiles were obtained by voxel-based GIS procedures. In this way, all the graphic recording required by standard archaeological practices was met. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) A vehicle mobility estimator has been developed to produce decision aid maps for projecting civil or military forces on operational theatres. Based on the exploitation of classical geographical sources (e.g. digital elevation models, optical images, and vector databases) and thematic sources (e.g. climate, meteorological, pedological and land cover databases), the system computes speed maps for different kinds of vehicles moving both on-road and off-road. Such computations are realized through a ground-vehicle interaction module that estimates the vehicle performance from experimental results, numerical simulations and empirical relationships. The system's architecture is built using a GIS interface that manages the data, the computation and the presentation layers. An operational version of this tool has been tested and validated on several operational theatres in France and in northern Africa. The results show good agreement between the predicted mobility performance of various vehicles and those observed on the field. A case study is presented to illustrate the mobility maps and demonstrate their relevance in the decision-making chain depending on different climate contexts. A short application to itinerary optimization is presented as a promising future application. [Termes IGN] reconstruction d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Compressive sensing (CS) for urban operations and through-the-wall radar imaging has been shown to be successful in fast data acquisition and moving target localizations. The research in this area thus far has assumed effective removal of wall electromagnetic backscatterings prior to CS application. Wall clutter mitigation can be achieved using full data volume which is, however, in contradiction with the underlying premise of CS. In this paper, we enable joint wall clutter mitigation and CS application using a reduced set of spatial-frequency observations in stepped frequency radar platforms. Specifically, we demonstrate that wall mitigation techniques, such as spatial filtering and subspace projection, can proceed using fewer measurements. We consider both cases of having the same reduced set of frequencies at each of the available antenna locations and also when different frequency measurements are employed at different antenna locations. The latter casts a more challenging problem, as it is not amenable to wall removal using direct implementation of filtering or projection techniques. In this case, we apply CS at each antenna individually to recover the corresponding range profile and estimate the scene response at all frequencies. In applying CS, we use prior knowledge of the wall standoff distance to speed up the convergence of the orthogonal matching pursuit for sparse data reconstruction. Real data are used for validation of the proposed approach. [Termes IGN] traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) Processing of data from global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), such as GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, can be considerably impeded by disturbances in the ionosphere. Cycle-slip detection and correction thus becomes a crucial component of robust software. Still, dealing with ionospheric cycle slips is not trivial due to scintillation effects in both the phase and the amplitude of the signals. In this contribution, a geometry-based approach with rigorous handling of the ionosphere is presented. A detailed analysis of the cycle-slip correction process is also tackled by examining its dependence on phase and code noise, non-dispersive effects and, of course, the ionosphere. The importance of stochastic modeling in validating the integer cycle-slip candidates is emphasized and illustrated through simulations. By examining the relationship between ionospheric bias and ionospheric constraint, it is shown that there is a limit in the magnitude of ionospheric delay variation that can be handled by the cycle-slip correction process. Those concepts are applied to GNSS data collected by stations in northern Canada, and show that enhanced cycle-slip detection can lead to decimeter-level improvements in the accuracy of kinematic PPP solutions with a 30-s sampling interval. Cycle-slip correction associated with ionospheric delay variations exceeding 50 cm is also demonstrated, although there are risks with such a procedure and these are pointed out. [Termes IGN] reconstruction d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) We consider sparsity-driven change detection (CD) for human motion indication in through-the-wall radar imaging and urban sensing applications. Stationary targets and clutter are removed via CD, which converts a populated scene into a sparse scene of a few human targets moving inside enclosed structures and behind walls. We establish appropriate CD models for various possible human motions, ranging from translational motions to sudden short movements of the limbs, head, and/or torso. These models permit scene reconstruction within the compressive sensing framework. Results based on laboratory experiments show that a sizable reduction in the data volume is achieved using the proposed approach without a degradation in system performance.
