[Termes IGN] trafic routierRésumé : (Auteur) Navigation and orientation while walking in urban spaces pose serious challenges for blind pedestrians, sometimes even on a daily basis. Research shows the practicability of computerized weighted network route planning algorithms based on OpenStreetMap mapping data for calculating customized routes for blind pedestrians. While data about pedestrians and vehicle traffic flow at different times throughout the day influence the route choices of blind pedestrians, such data do not exist in OpenStreetMap. Quantifying the correlation between spatial structure and traffic flow could be used to fill this gap. As such, we investigated machine‐learning methods to develop a computerized model for predicting pedestrian traffic flow levels, with the objective of enriching the OpenStreetMap database. This article presents prediction results by implementing six machine‐learning algorithms based on parameters relating to the geometrical and topological configuration of streets in OpenStreetMap, as well as points‐of‐interest such as public transportation and shops. The Random Forest algorithm produced the best results, whereby 95% of the testing data were successfully predicted. These results indicate that machine‐learning algorithms can accurately generate necessary temporal data, which when combined with the available crowdsourced open mapping data could augment the reliability of route planning algorithms for blind pedestrians. [Termes IGN] variation diurneRésumé : (auteur) As one of the important factors influencing the ionospheric total electron content (TEC) estimation accuracy, receiver differential code biases (DCBs) should be properly removed from global navigation satellite system (GNSS) measurements. The intraday variability in receiver DCBs (rDCBs), which is usually ignored in the commonly used ionospheric observable retrieval procedure, has been identified as one of the major errors degrading the accuracy of TEC estimation. The modified carrier-to-code leveling (MCCL) method can be adopted to eliminate the impact of the rDCB variability on the retrieval of the ionospheric TEC from dual-frequency (DF) GNSS observations. In this contribution, we extend the MCCL method from two aspects. First, the DF MCCL method is adapted to the multi-frequency (MF) case, in which DF, triple-frequency or even arbitrary-frequency observations can be readily processed to simultaneously estimate both the ionospheric TEC and rDCB variations. Second, the MCCL method is refined to enable the handling of GLONASS data by accounting for the effects of code inter-frequency biases induced by the frequency division multiple access (FDMA) technology. Based on the test results, the retrieval accuracy of the ionospheric TEC using our proposed method can be improved from 9.47 TECu to 2.67 TECu in the presence of significant intraday rDCB variations. We discovered that the maximum difference in the rDCB variations of the same satellite system between different frequency bands can be as large as 10 ns. The dependence of multi-GNSS and MF rDCB variations on the ambient temperature is further verified in this study. The results show that the temperature dependence of rDCB varies among different satellite systems and frequency bands. Compared to the Galileo, GPS and GLONASS satellite systems, the Beidou system (BDS) rDCB estimates exhibit a stronger correlation with the measured temperature. The percentages of stations with the mean absolute Pearson correlation coefficient value above 0.8 are 27.17% for GPS, 30.58% for GLONASS, 43.78% for BDS and 33.9% for Galileo, respectively. In this article, a method is presented for prediction of GNSS positioning integrity for ITS journey planning. This information, in addition to other route information, such as distance and time, can be utilized to choose the safest and economical route. We propose to combine the Advanced Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (ARAIM) technique, tailored for ITS, with 3D city models. Positioning is performed by GNSS Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) method, which can provide the accuracy required for ITS. A new threat model employed for computation of the protection levels (PLs) for RTK positioning is discussed. Demonstration of the proposed approach is performed through a kinematic test in an urban area in Tokyo. The comparison between the prediction method and the actual observations show that the two estimate close satellite geometry and PLs. The method produced PLs that bounds the actual position errors all the time and they were less than the preset alert limit. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (auteur) Real-time precise point positioning (PPP) based on open-access real-time service (RTS) of the international GNSS service (IGS) has attracted increasing attention in recent years. For offshore applications, the receiving of RTS corrections becomes a major obstacle due to lack of internet-based infrastructures. Short-message communication (SMC) is a particular technique of BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS), which can provide bidirectional communication between users in a cost-effective way. However, the limited bandwidth and frequency of BDS SMC make it impossible to directly broadcast IGS RTS corrections with BDS SMC. An offshore real-time PPP technique is proposed based on IGS RTS corrections with a single set of BDS SMC devices for communication. RTS orbit corrections in the along-track, cross-track and radial directions, the clock correction and the code bias correction of each satellite are together converted into an equivalent range correction on the basis of user approximate position and will-be-used code observation types. The range corrections within 1 min are fitted into a first-order polynomial. Only the range and range-rate corrections at the reference time are broadcast with BDS SMC. In addition, different from broadcasting corrections of all satellites in the IGS RTS, corrections of only visible satellites are encoded into a BDS SMC correction message to further reduce the data size. The encoding strategy of BDS SMC correction message and a detailed procedure of the offshore real-time PPP technique are presented. The land-simulated and offshore experiment results show that the proposed technique can meet the demands of high-precision offshore applications. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) This research is motivated by the widespread use of desktop environments in the lab and by the recent trend of conducting real-world eye-tracking experiments to investigate pedestrian navigation. Despite the existing significant differences between the real world and the desktop environments, how pedestrians’ visual behavior in real environments differs from that in desktop environments is still not well understood. Here, we report a study that recorded eye movements for a total of 82 participants while they were performing five common navigation tasks in an unfamiliar urban environment (N = 39) and in a desktop environment (N = 43). By analyzing where the participants allocated their visual attention, what objects they fixated on, and how they transferred their visual attention among objects during navigation, we found similarities and significant differences in the general fixation indicators, spatial fixation distributions and attention to the objects of interest. The results contribute to the ongoing debate over the validity of using desktop environments to investigate pedestrian navigation by providing insights into how pedestrians allocate their attention to visual stimuli to accomplish navigation tasks in the two environments.
