[Termes IGN] précision du positionnementRésumé : (Auteur) Local governments frequently use parcel maps or other spatial data for decision-making, but much of this data is often inaccurate and outdated, producing a negative influence on the expected outcome. Remote sensing can provide accurate and current high-resolution imagery. However, one major bottleneck to the integration of high-resolution imagery into existing geographic information systems is the issue of positional accuracy of the existing line-work within the vector GIS database, making it difficult to match with imagery. This paper presents a vector-to-imagery conflation approach to improve the positional accuracy of digital parcel maps by conflating the vector parcel maps to make it consistent with high-resolution imagery. Road intersections are automatically extracted from imagery and used as control points. A relaxation labeling algorithm is used to find the matches between the two road intersection point sets from vector and imagery. The links are created from the matched point pairs and are used to perform a piecewise transformation. The test results show that this approach can improve the accuracy of vector parcel maps significantly. It is a very cost-effective method and has great potential to save considerable time and money for local governments to upgrade their inaccurate vector datasets. In this paper, we introduce an information model for describing this content. The model covers the physical environment faced by a person moving on foot. We have used the Unified Modeling Language class diagrams to formalize the information model on a conceptual level. The features are divided into two abstract top-level classes: one allowing pedestrian access and the other hindering it. A consistent and comprehensive pedestrian network is at the core of the model. The model also covers other geographical information to increase accessibility. The aim of the created information model is to help data providers to collect and store appropriate data using the appropriate methods. It is based on the plane surfaces of building roofs which are derived from laser footprints. Three such planes intersect at a point and the coordinates of several of these well-defined points are compared with points determined from aerial photography. From the differences obtained accuracy measures are derived. An analysis regarding the type of error distribution is carried out in order to determine whether to apply either standard or robust accuracy measures. Confidence intervals are derived for each accuracy measure by means of a unique computational method. A practical test with the proposed method revealed a high precision in the intersected points. The absolute positional accuracy of the lidar point cloud was determined with both standard and robust accuracy measures; the latter always produced smaller values. Suggestions for standards in the assessment of the positional accuracy of laser point clouds are made. [Termes IGN] variance de phaseRésumé : (Auteur) Ambiguity resolution (AR) for a single receiver has been a popular topic in Global Positioning System (GPS) recently. Ambiguity-resolution methods for precise point positioning (PPP) have been well documented in recent years, demonstrating that it can improve the accuracy of PPP. However, users are often concerned about the reliability of ambiguity-fixed PPP solution in practical applications. If ambiguities are fixed to wrong integers, large errors would be introduced into position estimates. In this paper, we aim to assess the correct fixing rate (CFR), i.e., number of ambiguities correctly fixing to the total number of ambiguities correctly and incorrectly fixing, for PPP user ambiguity resolution on a global scale. A practical procedure is presented to evaluate the CFR of PPP user ambiguity resolution. GPS data of the first 3 days in each month of 2010 from about 390 IGS stations are used for experiments. Firstly, we use GPS data collected from about 320 IGS stations to estimate global single-differenced (SD) wide-lane and narrow-lane satellite uncalibrated phase delays (UPDs). The quality of UPDs is evaluated. We found that wide-lane UPD estimates have a rather small standard deviation (Std) between 0.003 and 0.004 cycles while most of Std of narrow-lane estimates are from 0.01 to 0.02 cycles. Secondly, many experiments have been conducted to investigate the CFR of integer ambiguity resolution we can achieve under different conditions, including reference station density, observation session length and the ionospheric activity. The results show that the CFR of PPP can exceed 98.0 % with only 1 h of observations for most user stations. No obvious correlation between the CFR and the reference station density is found. Therefore, nearly homogeneous CFR can be achieved in PPP AR for global users. At user end, higher CFR could be achieved with longer observations. The average CFR for 30-min, 1-h, 2-h and 4-h observation is 92.3, 98.2, 99.5 and 99.7 %, respectively. In order to get acceptable CFR, 1 h is a recommended minimum observation time. Furthermore, the CFR of PPP can be affected by diurnal variation and geomagnetic latitude variation in the ionosphere. During one day at the hours when rapid ionospheric variations occur or in low geomagnetic latitude regions where equatorial electron density irregularities are produced relatively frequently, a significant degradation of the CFR is demonstrated. This inverts the traditional top-down geospatial data production and distribution methods by emphasizing on the participation of the end user or community. The technique has been shown to be particularly useful in the domain of accessibility mapping, where it can augment traditional mapping methods and systems by providing information about transitory obstacles in the built environment. This research paper presents details of techniques and applications of crowdsourcing and related methods for improving the presence of transitory obstacles in accessibility mapping systems. The obstacles are very difficult to incorporate with any other traditional mapping workflow, since they typically appear in an unplanned manner and disappear just as quickly. Nevertheless, these obstacles present a major impediment to navigating an unfamiliar environment. Fortunately, these obstacles can be reported, defined, and captured through a variety of crowdsourcing techniques, including gazetteer-based geoparsing and active social media harvesting, and then referenced in a crowdsourced mapping system. These techniques are presented, along with context from research in tactile cartography and geo-enabled accessibility systems.
