[Termes IGN] WindowsRésumé : (Auteur) STAR GIS V6.2 is the latest product of STAR INFORMATIC from Belgium, a wholly European developed GIS software program. Design and built upon Microsoft compatibility, " STAR GIS is the ideal software platform for setting-up applications aimed at users who need to query and update the database, produce reports and perform thematic analysis " as stated. STAR GIS V6.2 is one product in a line of products that integrate together. Other STAR INFORMATIC programs include WINSTAR for setting up data models and performing transactional functions as well as exploiting 3D data. STAR NEXT provides the ability to design web applications that are oriented toward utilities and public administration, while MERCATOR provides cartographic publishing solutions. Collectively, these products can be used together or independently. STAR GIS 6.2 is the primary data management and GIS program and may be considered the foundation of the trio. The following is a review of STAR GIS 6.2. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) This paper proposes a novel generalization model for selecting characteristic streets in an urban street network. This model retains the central structure of a street network. It relies on a structural representation of a street network using graph principles where vertices represent named streets and links represent street intersections. Based on this representation, so-called connectivity graph, centrality measures are introduced to qualify the status of each individual vertex within the graph. We show that these measures can be used for characterizing the structural properties of an urban street network, and for the selection of important streets. The proposed approach is validated by a case study applied to a middle-sized Swedish city.
- Solution standard de transmission de corrections GPS-RTK
- Solutions adaptées à la trajectographie de sportifs

[Termes IGN] visualisationRésumé : (Auteur) Inter-urban income disparities reflect differences between individual urban localities in the average incomes of their residents. The present paper discusses different ways of visualizing such disparities on thematic maps. The approach we propose is based on the transformation of distances between individual localities and a reference city (e.g. a major population centre of a country) in proportion to the actual differences in the income levels. The general principle of such a transformation is to bring closer to the reference city places with higher incomes, while moving away localities with low income levels. Three alternative approaches to the implementation of this transformation technique are discussed. According to the 'actual distance' method, the spatial 'shift' of a locality on the map is set proportional to both the relative difference in incomes and the aerial distance between a locality and the reference city. In the 'proportional increment' transformation, the distance between a locality and the reference city is adjusted by a parameter whose values are proportional to income disparities between the two. Lastly, according to the 'concentric circle' transformation, localities with identical levels of incomes are positioned at a certain distance from the reference city, forming concentric circles around it. Both advantages and disadvantages of these transformation techniques are discussed, and the 'proportional increment' method is chosen as the best-performing visualization technique. The performance of this technique is demonstrated using income data for urban localities in Israel in 1991 and 1999. As analysis indicates, the proposed method helps to illustrate both the existing patterns of inter-urban income disparities and their dynamics over time.
