[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Road network extraction from high-resolution satellite (HRS) imagery is a complex task. It is an important field of research and is widely used in various cartographic applications such as updating and generating maps. The objective of this research work is to develop a novel framework, emulating human cognition, for detection of roads from HRS images. Roads network from HRS images are detected using support vector machines within the different stages of cognitive task analysis. In the first stage, basic information about the cognitive parameters which are required for image interpretation is collected. In the second stage, the rule-based method is used for knowledge representation. Lastly, during knowledge elicitation, the developed rules are used to extract roads from HRS images. The proposed method is validated using 16 HRS images of developed suburban, developed urban, emerging suburban and emerging urban region. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Digital building information is important during a building's lifecycle, it is needed from first design until demolition. The two domains that mainly contribute are AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) during design, construction, and operation, and GIS as a supporting discipline for analysis and further integration of the building's environment. However, there is a challenge in information exchange between the two domains, resulting in the remodeling of digital building information in GIS. In this article, we identify three major data sources from the AEC domain and show transformation processes to enable the integration of such models into the geographical environment in the form of one transition model. Furthermore, we show that this model can either be used directly or exported in the form of de facto standards that allow for further analysis. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) Dense stereo matching plays a key role in 3D reconstruction. The capability of using deep learning in the stereo matching of remote sensing data is currently uncertain. This article investigated the application of deep learning–based stereo methods in aerial image series and proposed a deep learning–based multi-view dense matching framework. First, we applied three typical convolutional neural network models, MC-CNN, GC-Net, and DispNet, to aerial stereo pairs and compared the results with those of the SGM and a commercial software, SURE. Second, on different data sets, the generalization ability of each network is evaluated by using direct transfer learning with models pretrained on other data sets and by fine-tuning with a small number of target training data. Third, we present a deep learning–based multi-view dense matching framework where the multi-view geometry is introduced to further refine matching results. Three sets of aerial images as the main data sets and two open-source sets of street images as auxiliary data sets are used for testing. Experiments show that, first, the performance of deep learning–based stereo methods is slightly better than traditional methods. Second, both the GC-Net and the MC-CNN have demonstrated good generalization ability and can obtain satisfactory results on aerial images using a pretrained model on several available stereo benchmarks. Third, multi-view geometry constraints can further improve the performance of deep learning–based methods, which is better than that of the multi-view–based SGM and SURE. [Termes IGN] téléphone intelligentRésumé : (auteur) Crowdsourcing geographic information has been a massive phenomenon that took place over the last two decades and that changed dramatically the diffusion of geographic data in society. The availability and readiness of geographic information is paramount in practically all software systems and services and this is strongly determined by the drive of people putting energy in data collection and improvement. Understanding the motivations of people to participate in this process is fundamental to leverage the design of new systems able to increase satisfaction and productivity. The introduction of game mechanisms in geographic crowdsourcing is the theme that we face in this research. The so-called gamification of applications has been widely used as a stimulant for involving people in serious activities that are hidden behind the gaming façade. Cooperation and competition are key factors that are promoted through the game. We synthesize a conceptual model that collects the main gaming techniques tailored for geographic data and that is the basis for the development of a gamification library. As a proof of concept, we deploy an Android app for geometric data collection inside buildings and test it in a university setting.
