[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) Automatic mapping of built-up areas from a multitemporal interferometric ERS-1/2 Tandem dataset was studied. The image data were segmented into homogeneous regions, and the regions were classified as built-up areas, forests, and open areas using their mean intensity and coherence values and additional contextual information. Compared with a set of reference points, an overall classification accuracy of 97 percent was achieved. The classification process was highly automatic and resulted in homogeneous regions resembling a map drawn by a human interpreter. The feasibility of the imagery for dividing built-up areas further into subclasses was also investigated. The results suggest that low-rise areas, high-rise areas, and industrial areas are difficult to distinguish from each other. On the other hand, a correlation between the building density, the proportion of land covered with buildings, and intensity/coherence in the image data was found. The dataset thus appeared to be promising for classifying built-up areas into subclasses according to building density. [Termes IGN] spécification de contenuRésumé : (Auteur) Metadata is needed to facilitate data sharing among geospatial information communities. Geographic Metadata Standards are available but tend to be general and complex in nature and also are not well suited to overcome semantic heterogeneities across vocabularies of different domains and user communities. Current formalizations of metadata standards are not flexible enough to allow reuse and extension of metadata specifications, in particular for Web based information Systems. In order to address this problem, we propose a methodology to create community specific metadata profiles for the Semantic Web by reusing metadata specifications and domain vocabularies encoded as resources for the Web. This ensures that these community profiles are semantically compatible so they can be used in Web based information Systems. The ISO-19115:2003 geographic metadata standard is the most general standard available and is being used in conjunction with the Web Ontology Language as the expression medium to test the methodology for each one of the possible extensions documented in ISO-19115:2003. It is shown that it is possible to extend and reuse metadata specifications and vocabularies distributed in the Web using the Web Ontology Language, by utilizing the language's flexibility to create restrictions on inherit properties and to make interferences on web distributed resources. Examples from the area of Hydrology are provided to demonstrate the technical details of the approach. By combining Self-Organizing Map (SOM), Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ), and Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) methods, the posterior probability of the various land cover components were estimated for each pixel as a means of sub-pixel analysis. The estimation of impervious surface and the differentiation of urban vegetation grass versus woody tree coverage the main objectives of this paper. Overall, the output estimates compared favorably with those obtained using higher spatial resolution aerial photograph and IKONOS satellite image and traditional hard classification techniques as independent reference. The SOM-LVQ-GMM mode! showed a moderate degree of similarity in the estimates of impervious surface [root mean-square errors (RMSEs) of Numéro de notice : A2006-261 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1109/TGRS.2006.869984 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1109/TGRS.2006.869984 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27988
