[Termes IGN] réseau ferroviaireRésumé : (Auteur) Map projections are an essential component of coordinate systems used in applications such as surveying, topographic mapping, and engineering, and care needs to be taken to select ones that minimize distortion for each case. This article explores the selection process for near-linear features on the surface of the Earth and derives limits for the extent of a project that can be projected within specified distortion tolerances. It is then demonstrated that a multifaceted set of projections of the Earth may be used to extend this concept to the mapping of features such as highways and railways that are quasi-linear but do not exactly follow a standard geometrical line (a great circle or a small circle) on the surface of the Earth. A continuous, conformal coordinate system may be derived in such situations, extending to indefinite length and applicable over a swath of several kilometers width, but it cannot be extended to cover situations with extensive variations in height. Instead, the Snake Projection is analyzed, and it is shown that this can be used to develop continuous (non-zonal) projected coordinate systems for major engineering projects extending for hundreds of kilometers and having extensive height ranges. Examples are shown of the application to railway projects. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Given a group Q of query points and a set P of points of interest (POIs), aggregate nearest neighbor (ANN) queries find a POI p from P that achieves the smallest aggregate distance. Specifically, the aggregate distance is defined over the set of distances between p and all query points in Q$\mathcal {Q}$. Existing studies on ANN query mainly consider the spatial proximity, whereas the textual similarity has received considerable attention recently. In this work, we utilize user-specified query keywords to capture textual similarity. We study the aggregate keyword nearest neighbor (AKNN) queries, finding the POI that has the smallest aggregate distance and covers all query keywords. Nevertheless, existing methods on ANN query are either inapplicable or inefficient when applied to the AKNN query. To answer our query efficiently, we first develop a dual-granularity (DG) indexing schema. It preserves abstracts of the road network by a tree structure, and preserves detailed network information by an extended adjacency list. Then, we propose a minimal first search (MFS) algorithm. It traverses the tree and explores the node with the minimal aggregate distance iteratively. This method suffers from false hits arising from keyword tests. Thus, we propose the collaborative filtering technique, which performs keywords test by multiple keyword bitmaps collectively rather than by only one. Extensive experiments on both real and synthetic datasets demonstrate the superiority of our algorithms and optimizing strategies. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) The sustainable management and monitoring of urban forests is an important activity in the urbanized world, and operational approaches require information about the status of urban trees to determine the best strategy. One limitation in urban forest studies is the detection and discrimination of tree species using limited training data. Thus, this study focuses on developing generic rule sets from high-resolution WorldView-2 imagery in conjunction with spectral, spatial, colour and textural information for automated urban tree species detection. The object-based image analysis and its combination with statistical analysis of object features is utilized for this purpose. Results of attribute selection indicated that from 55 attributes, only 26 were useful to discriminate urban tree species, namely Messua ferrea L., Samanea saman and Casuarina sumatrana. Finally, the high overall accuracy, approximately 86.87% with kappa of 0.75 confirmed the transferability of the generic model.
