[Termes IGN] températureRésumé : (auteur) Separating noise, systematic errors and deformation components that are caused by different forces such as water pressure and temperature should be identified from dam deformation monitoring data to facilitate effective dam deformation analysis and consequently determine the potential dam structural damage. As source signals are assumed to be mutually independent, independent component analysis (ICA) can be used to separate the source signals from their mixtures. In addition to signal independence, another requirement of ICA theory is that the number of mixtures should not be less than that of source signals. Unfortunately, in most cases of dam deformation monitoring, only a single channel of observed displacement data is available for each monitoring point. Therefore, ICA with single channel data input (called single channel ICA) is necessary in the application of deformation analysis. In this paper, we apply a phase space reconstruction based single channel ICA (PSR-ICA) algorithm to de-noise deformation monitoring data and separate deformation components introduced by different forces from these de-noised data. A numerical simulation is conducted, and results indicate that PSR-ICA is an efficient tool not only for denoising data but also for separating deformation components caused by different forces. PSR-ICA is then further utilised to process the displacement monitoring data of Wuqiangxi Dam. Results indicate that the two extracted main displacement components are nearly consistent with the displacement components; temperature and water level are used as variables and are computed by using a regression model. Both numerical simulated and real life dams demonstrate that PSR-ICA is an effective tool for separating deformation components by different causative forces and is therefore beneficial to dam deformation analysis. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Object-oriented remote sensing image classification is becoming more and more popular because it can integrate spatial information from neighboring regions of different shapes and sizes into the classification procedure to improve the mapping accuracy. However, object identification itself is difficult and challenging. Superpixels, which are groups of spatially connected similar pixels, have the scale between the pixel level and the object level and can be generated from oversegmentation. In this paper, we establish a new classification framework using a superpixel-based graphical model. Superpixels instead of pixels are applied as the basic unit to the graphical model to capture the contextual information and the spatial dependence between the superpixels. The advantage of this treatment is that it makes the classification less sensitive to noise and segmentation scale. The contribution of this paper is the application of a graphical model to remote sensing image semantic segmentation. It is threefold. 1) Gradient fusion is applied to multispectral images before the watershed segmentation algorithm is used for superpixel generation. 2) A probabilistic fusion method is designed to derive node potential in the superpixel-based graphical model to address the problem of insufficient training samples at the superpixel level. 3) A boundary penalty between the superpixels is introduced in the edge potential evaluation. Experiments on three real data sets were conducted. The results show that the proposed method performs better than the related state-of-the-art methods tested. [Termes IGN] visualisation cartographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The negative health effects of living in a deprived neighborhood may influence the incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD), even after controlling for sociodemographic characteristics, and there is evidence that residential mobility is associated with mortality and morbidity rates. However, few studies have investigated the application of integrated visualization techniques and statistic modeling to communicate the association between residential mobility and cardiovascular outcomes. We focus on examining the association between cardiovascular health outcomes and patient migration in Auckland, New Zealand, in two ways. First, we assess the association between all-cause mortality among patients with CVD and deprivation mobility, controlling for age, gender and ethnicity using multiple logistic regression at the individual level, and then visualize the results. Second, we identify aggregated geographical patterns of prevalence of CVD stratified using migration status, area-deprivation, ethnicity, and geographical area using kriskograms, ring-cartograms, and ringmaps to visualize the results. We reveal distinct patterns for purposefully selected subgroups and highlight disparities by geographic area, deprivation, and ethnicity before discussing the implications of our findings in relation to migration and health outcomes. [Termes IGN] image infrarouge couleurRésumé : (auteur) Natural and semi-natural habitats in agricultural landscapes are likely to come under increasing pressure with the global population set to exceed 9 billion by 2050. These non-cropped habitats are primarily made up of trees, hedgerows and grassy margins and their amount, quality and spatial configuration can have strong implications for the delivery and sustainability of various ecosystem services. In this study high spatial resolution (0.5 m) colour infrared aerial photography (CIR) was used in object based image analysis for the classification of non-cropped habitat in a 10,029 ha area of southeast England. Three classification scenarios were devised using 4 and 9 class scenarios. The machine learning algorithm Random Forest (RF) was used to reduce the number of variables used for each classification scenario by 25.5 % ± 2.7%. Proportion of votes from the 4 class hierarchy was made available to the 9 class scenarios and where the highest ranked variables in all cases. This approach allowed for misclassified parent objects to be correctly classified at a lower level. A single object hierarchy with 4 class proportion of votes produced the best result (kappa 0.909). Validation of the optimum training sample size in RF showed no significant difference between mean internal out-of-bag error and external validation. As an example of the utility of this data, we assessed habitat suitability for a declining farmland bird, the yellowhammer (Emberiza citronella), which requires hedgerows associated with grassy margins. We found that ∼22% of hedgerows were within 200 m of margins with an area >183.31 m2. The results from this analysis can form a key information source at the environmental and policy level in landscape optimisation for food production and ecosystem service sustainability. [Termes IGN] téléphone intelligentRésumé : (auteur) The utility and adoption of indoor localization applications have been limited due to the complex nature of the physical environment combined with an increasing requirement for more robust localization performance. Existing solutions to this problem are either too expensive or too dependent on infrastructure such as Wi-Fi access points. To address this problem, we propose APFiLoc—a low cost, smartphone-based framework for indoor localization. The key idea behind this framework is to obtain landmarks within the environment and to use the augmented particle filter to fuse them with measurements from smartphone sensors and map information. A clustering method based on distance constraints is developed to detect organic landmarks in an unsupervised way, and the least square support vector machine is used to classify seed landmarks. A series of real-world experiments were conducted in complex environments including multiple floors and the results show APFiLoc can achieve 80% accuracy (phone in the hand) and around 70% accuracy (phone in the pocket) of the error less than 2 m error without the assistance of infrastructure like Wi-Fi access points.
