[Termes IGN] image hyperspectraleRésumé : (Auteur) In hyperspectral imaging, spectral unmixing is one of the most challenging and fundamental problems. It consists of breaking down the spectrum of a mixed pixel into a set of pure spectra, called endmembers, and their contributions, called abundances. Many endmember extraction techniques have been proposed in literature, based on either a statistical or a geometrical formulation. However, most, if not all, of these techniques for estimating abundances use a least-squares solution. In this paper, we show that abundances can be estimated using a geometric formulation. To this end, we express abundances with the barycentric coordinates in the simplex defined by endmembers. We propose to write them in terms of a ratio of volumes or a ratio of distances, which are quantities that are often computed to identify endmembers. This property allows us to easily incorporate abundance estimation within conventional endmember extraction techniques, without incurring additional computational complexity. We use this key property with various endmember extraction techniques, such as N-Findr, vertex component analysis, simplex growing algorithm, and iterated constrained endmembers. The relevance of the method is illustrated with experimental results on real hyperspectral images. [Termes IGN] segmentationRésumé : (Auteur) Terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) data plays an important role in 3D modelling of urban scenes. Much research is carried out in the fields of pre-processing, segmentation and geometric reconstruction of laser data of building façades. However, the quality of 3D models obtained from this data is rarely assessed. This paper proposes a qualitative and quantitative assessment approach to evaluate the quality of 3D models of façades constructed with TLS data. Only segmentation and reconstruction operations are considered in this paper, because they cover the main steps in the 3D modelling process. Since every processing step produces an intermediate result, each one must be analysed and compared with an appropriate reference model. A new approach has been conceived to evaluate the precision of the segmentation results. It is based on the calculation of Boolean operators enabling the comparison of planar clusters produced by the segmentation. To evaluate the vector models resulting from the reconstruction step, a method based on quality indices is proposed. It is adapted not only for precision but also for accuracy calculations. The results show that the quality assessment approach is coherent and, moreover, easy to apply. [Termes IGN] optimisation (mathématiques)Résumé : (auteur) Nearest neighbors techniques have become extremely popular, particularly for use with forest inventory data. With these techniques, a population unit prediction is calculated as a linear combination of observations for a selected number of population units in a sample that are most similar, or nearest, in a space of ancillary variables to the population unit requiring the prediction. Nearest neighbors techniques are appealing for multiple reasons: they can be used with categorical response variables for which the objective is classification and with continuous response variables for which the objective is prediction; they can be used for both univariate and multivariate prediction; they are non-parametric in the sense that no assumptions regarding the distributions of response or predictor variables are necessary; they are synthetic in the sense that they can readily use information external to the geographic area for which an estimate is sought; they are useful for map construction, small area estimation, and inference; and they can be used with a wide variety of data sets. Recent advances and emerging issues in nearest neighbors techniques are reviewed for four topic areas: (1) distance metrics, (2) optimization, (3) diagnostic tools, and (4) inference. The focus of the study is estimation of mean forest stem volume per unit area for small areas using a combination of forest inventory observations and Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) imagery. However, the concepts and techniques are generally applicable for all nearest neighbors problems. Nous décrirons en particulier une méthode de classification au niveau pixel censée distinguer différents types d'occupation du sol, en plus de l'aspect traitement des huit bandes spectrales. [Termes IGN] regroupement de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) Active learning (AL) seeks to interactively construct a smaller training data set that is the most informative and useful for the supervised classification task. Based on the multiview Adaptive Maximum Disagreement AL method, this study investigates the principles and capability of several approaches for the view generation for hyperspectral data classification, including clustering, random selection, and uniform subset slicing methods, which are then incorporated with dynamic view updating and feature space bagging strategies. Tests on Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer and Hyperion hyperspectral data sets show excellent performance as compared with random sampling and the simple version support vector machine margin sampling, a state-of-the-art AL method.
