[Termes IGN] optimisation (mathématiques)Résumé : (auteur) Many authors have already proposed linear feature extraction algorithms. In most cases, these algorithms cannot guarantee the extraction of adjacency relations between extracted features. Object contours appearing in the analyzed images are often fragmented into non-connected features. Nevertheless, the use of some topological information enables to reduce substantially the complexity of matching and registration algorithms. Here, we formulate the problem of linear feature extraction as an optimal labelling problem of a topological map obtained from low level operations. The originality of our approach is the maintaining of this data structure during the extraction process and the formulation of the problem of feature extraction as a global optimization problem. [Termes IGN] transformation de HoughRésumé : (auteur) A National Geographic Agency is a mapmaker and a database producer. The current manual stereoplotting of cartographic objects is time consuming. To reduce this production cost, we are working on problems related to the photogrammetric data capture automation. Based on our experience of road network systems and on our cartographic requirements, we consider road intersection extraction as a specific problem. In this article, the complete architecture of our system is presented in three steps: a specific intersection model description, the interpretation strategy and a decision-making process. We detail the simple intersection and roundabout process and evaluate the system behaviour on a large set of data. © 2000 International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. [Termes IGN] photographie aérienneRésumé : (Auteur) New digital systems for the processing of photogrammetric and remote sensing images have led to new approaches to information extraction for mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, with the expectation that data can become more readily available at a lower cost and with greater currency. Demands for mapping and GIS data are increasing as well for environmental assessment and monitoring. Hence, researchers from the fields of photogrammetry and remote sensing, as well as computer vision and artificial intelligence, are bringing together their particular skills for automating these tasks of information extraction. The paper will review some of the approaches used in knowledge representation and modelling for machine vision, and give examples of their applications in research for image understanding of aerial and satellite imagery.
