[Termes IGN] ressources en eauRésumé : (auteur) Accurate identification of water boundaries is of great significance to water resources surveys. Most water indexes have been designed for different districts and cannot be universally utilized in different regions and, in addition, they rely on atmospheric correction. A new water index, None-Radiation-Calibration Water Index (NRCWI), was constructed by Landsat OLI Band 3 (Green), Band 5 (NIR), and Band 6 (SWIR1), and was compared to the previous method, Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), Modified Normalized Difference Water Index (MNDWI), Automated Water Extraction Index (AWEI). We evaluated the accuracy of four water index methods for classifying water in 30-m resolution Landsat 8 OLI imagery from the Bohai Sea Rim in China, which takes in a broad assortment of features including sea and coastline, lakes, rivers, man-made water features, and mountains (shadow water). The following outcomes were obtained: 1. The overall accuracy of NRCWI was 95.23%, which is higher than NDWI, MNDWI, AWEI; 2. The leakage error of NRCWI was 5.48%, the misclassification error was 6.15%, and it implies that the error of NRCWI was effected decrease; 3. NRCWI had the highest kappa coefficient in lakes, rivers, man-made waters, mountains, and other ground features, which means that the method can reach a high accuracy in case 2 water which is principally situated in the near shore, estuary and so on; 4. In the applicability study, the kappa values of NRCWI were 89.99% (OLI), 87.36% (ETM+), 87.33% (TM), and 81.20% (Sentinel-2 MSI). Overall, the NRCWI method performed the best, with the highest accuracy and the lowest leakage error, which may be useful in OLI, ETM+, and TM imagery. [Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) Road intersection data have been used across a range of geospatial analyses. However, many datasets dating from before the advent of GIS are only available as historical printed maps. To be analyzed by GIS software, they need to be scanned and transformed into a usable (vector-based) format. Because the number of scanned historical maps is voluminous, automated methods of digitization and transformation are needed. Frequently, these processes are based on computer vision algorithms. However, the key challenges to this are (1) the low conversion accuracy for low quality and visually complex maps, and (2) the selection of optimal parameters. In this paper, we used a region-based deep convolutional neural network-based framework (RCNN) for object detection, in order to automatically identify road intersections in historical maps of several cities in the United States of America. We found that the RCNN approach is more accurate than traditional computer vision algorithms for double-line cartographic representation of the roads, though its accuracy does not surpass all traditional methods used for single-line symbols. The results suggest that the number of errors in the outputs is sensitive to complexity and blurriness of the maps, and to the number of distinct red-green-blue (RGB) combinations within them. [Termes IGN] réductionRésumé : (auteur) In this article, we propose a convolutional neural network with mapping layers (MCNN) for hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. The proposed mapping layers map the input patch into a low-dimensional subspace by multilinear algebra. We use our mapping layers to reduce the spectral and spatial redundancies and maintain most energy of the input. The feature extracted by our mapping layers can also reduce the number of following convolutional layers for feature extraction. Our MCNN architecture avoids the declining accuracy with increasing layers phenomenon of deep learning models for HSI classification and also saves the training time for its effective mapping layers. Furthermore, we impose the 3-D convolutional kernel on the convolutional layer to extract the spectral–spatial features for HSI. We tested our MCNN on three data sets of Indian Pines, University of Pavia, and Salinas, and we achieved the classification accuracy of 98.3%, 99.5%, and 99.3%, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed MCNN can significantly improve classification accuracy and save much time consumption. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) Individual roof plane extraction from Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) point-cloud data is a complex and difficult task because of unknown semantic characteristics and inharmonious behaviour of input data. Most of the existing state-of-the-art methods fail to detect small true roof planes with exact boundaries due to outliers, occlusions, complex building structures, and other inconsistent nature of LiDAR data. In this paper, we have presented an improved building detection and roof plane extraction method, which is less sensitive to the outliers and unlikely to generate spurious planes. For this, a robust outlier detection algorithm has been proposed in this paper along with a robust plane-fitting algorithm based on M-estimator SAmple Consensus (MSAC) for detecting individual roof planes. Using two benchmark datasets (Australian and International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing benchmark) with different numbers of buildings and sizes, trees and point densities, we have evaluated the proposed method. Experimental results show that the method removes outliers and vegetation almost accurately and offers a high success rate in terms of completeness and correctness (between 80% and 100% per-object) for both roof plane extraction and building detection. In most of the cases, the proposed method shows above 90% correctness. [Termes IGN] Wuhan (Chine)Résumé : (auteur) Point cloud boundary is an important part of the surface model. The traditional feature extraction method has slow speed and low efficiency and only achieves the boundary feature points. Hence, the point cloud feature regularization is proposed to obtain the boundary lines based on the fast extraction of feature points in this article. First, an improved $k$ - $d$ tree method is used to search the $k$ neighbors of sampling point. Then, the sampling point and its $k$ neighbors are used as the reference points set to fit a microcut plane and project to the plane. The local coordinate system is established on the microcut plane to convert 3-D into 2-D. The boundary feature points are identified by judging criterion of field force and then are sorted and connected according to the vector deflected angle and distance. Finally, the boundary lines are smoothed by the improved cubic B-spline fitting method. Experiments show that the proposed method can extract the boundary feature points quickly and efficiently, and the mean error of boundary lines is 0.0674 mm and the standard deviation is 0.0346 mm, which has high precision. This proposed method was also successfully applied to feature extraction and boundary fitting of Xinyi teaching building of the Wuhan University of Technology.
