[Termes IGN] matriceRésumé : (Auteur) We propose a novel semisupervised local discriminant analysis method for feature extraction in hyperspectral remote sensing imagery, with improved performance in both ill-posed and poor-posed conditions. The proposed method combines unsupervised methods (local linear feature extraction methods and supervised method (linear discriminant analysis) in a novel framework without any free parameters. The underlying idea is to design an optimal projection matrix, which preserves the local neighborhood information inferred from unlabeled samples, while simultaneously maximizing the class discrimination of the data inferred from the labeled samples. Experimental results on four real hyperspectral images demonstrate that the proposed method compares favorably with conventional feature extraction methods. The challenge consists in finding a content representation that allows you to effectively compare sketches and images, while supporting efficient retrieval in order to make the system scalable. We put forward a sketch-based image retrieval solution where sketches and natural image contours are represented and compared in the wavelet domain. The relevant information regarding query sketches and image content has, thus, a compact representation that can be readily employed by an efficient index for retrieval by similarity. Furthermore, with this solution, the balance between effectiveness and efficiency can be easily modified in order to adapt to the available resources. A comparative evaluation with a state-of-the-art method on the Paris dataset and a subset with 535K images of the ImageNet dataset shows that our solution can preserve effectiveness while being more than one order of magnitude faster. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) A canopy height model (chm) derived from lidar data can be segmented to obtain individual tree crowns. However, branches, tree crowns, and tree clusters usually have similar shapes and overlapping sizes. This causes current individual tree crown delineation methods for CHMs to work less effectively on closed canopy deciduous or mixed wood forests consisting of various-sized tree crowns. Based on mult-scale analysis and segmentation, an innovative tree crown delineation method was developed in this study. In this method, the scale levels of target tree crowns are first morphologically determined; the CHM is filtered at the multiple scale levels; and local maxima within each filtered CHM are taken as markers to segment the original chm using the marker-controlled watershed method. After tree crown segments are selected from the multiple resulting segmentation maps and integrated together, a complete tree crown map is generated. In an experiment on natural forests in Ontario, Canada, the proposed method yielded crown maps having a good consistency with manual and visual interpretation. For instance, when compared to a manually delineated forest map, the automated method correctly delineated about 69 percent, 65 percent, and 73 percent of the tree crowns from plots of closed canopy coniferous, deciduous, and mixed wood forests, respectively. [Termes IGN] superposition de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Obtaining information on the distribution of rural landscape types is an active research topic within Spanish rural studies. This paper presents a new hierarchical object-based classification method for the automatic detection of various land use classes in a rural area, combining lidar data and aerial images. In view of the upcoming availability of low-density lidar data (0·5 pulses/m2) for most of the territory of Spain, this paper assesses the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method for various lidar data densities. Such an assessment was conducted using two approaches: firstly, based on the final classification, which produced an overall accuracy over 96% and a kappa index above 0·95 for the combinations of the aerial image and lidar data-sets with four different densities; and secondly, based solely on the areas classified as buildings. In the second approach, the accuracy of the classification for building detection at pixel and object level was assessed. The object-oriented classification of buildings produced an index of correctness of over 99% and an index of completeness of about 95%. The results reveal a high agreement between classification and ground truth data.
