[Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (Auteur) It has been generally accepted that the noise in continuous GPS observations can be well described by a power-law plus white noise model. Using maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) the numerical values of the noise model can be estimated. Current methods require calculating the data covariance matrix and inverting it, which is a significant computational burden. Analysing 10 years of daily GPS solutions of a single station can take around 2 h on a regular computer such as a PC with an AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 dual core processor. When one analyses large networks with hundreds of stations or when one analyses hourly instead of daily solutions, the long computation times becomes a problem. In case the signal only contains power-law noise, the MLE computations can be simplified to a O(N log N) process where N is the number of observations. For the general case of power-law plus white noise, we present a modification of the MLE equations that allows us to reduce the number of computations within the algorithm from a cubic to a quadratic function of the number of observations when there are no data gaps. For time-series of three and eight years, this means in practise a reduction factor of around 35 and 84 in computation time without loss of accuracy. In addition, this modification removes the implicit assumption that there is no environment noise before the first observation. Finally, we present an analytical expression for the uncertainty of the estimated trend if the data only contains power-law noise. [Termes IGN] précision de la classificationRésumé : (Auteur) In this study, we developed a land-cover classification methodology using Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) visible near-infrared (VNIR), shortwave infrared (SWIR), and thermal infrared (TIR) band combinations based on wavelet fusion and the selforganizing map (SOM) neural network methods, and compared the classification accuracies of different combinations of ASTER multi-band data. A wavelet fusion concept named ARSIS (Amélioration de la Résolution Spatiale par Injection de Structures) was used to fuse ASTER data in the preprocessing stage. In order to apply the wavelet fusion method to ASTER data, the principal components of ASTER VNIR data were computed. The first principal component was used as the base image for wavelet fusion. In our experiments, the spatial resolution of ASTER VNIR, SWIR, and TIR data was adjusted to the same 15 m. SOM classification accuracy was increased from 83 percent to 93 percent by this fusion, and classification accuracy increased along with the increase of band numbers. Classification accuracy reaches the highest value when all 14 bands are used, but classification accuracy closely approached the highest value when three VNIR bands, three SWIR bands, and two TIR bands were used. A similar tendency was also obtained by the maximum likelihood classification (MLC) method, but the classification accuracies of MLC over all band combinations were considerably obviously lower than those obtained by the SOM method. [Termes IGN] représentation du reliefRésumé : (Auteur) From now on, the French National Mapping Agengy (IGN France) is set up with the BD Topo. This is a topographic vector database that covers the whole national territory. IGN decided to produce base maps at 1:25k and 1:50k from this database. On topographic mountain maps, rock areas are among the map elements that are the most difficult to produce with digital cartography. In the past, they have been drawn manually by experienced cartographers, using graphic means and working with aerial photographs. Now, e need to focus on 2 points with a digital approach, the first one is the detection and an automated classification of concerned areas. The next one is the development of an adapted cartographic representation of rocks and scree areas. This article presents the first results on these problems. As far as possible, we aim at having automated high mountain cartography with lower production costs. Also, we would like it to be as expressive as it was in previous maps. This is to keep the same cartographic quality of the current base map at 1:25k and 1:50k. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) Automated or semi-automated feature extraction from remotely collected, large scale image data has been a challenging issue in digital photogrammetry for many years. In the feature extraction field, fusing different types of data to provide complementary information about the objects is becoming increasingly important. In this paper, we present a newly developed approach for the automatic extraction of urban area road networks from a true orthoimage and lidar assuming the road network to be a semi-grid pattern. The proposed approach starts from the subdivision of a study area into small regions based on homogeneity of the dominant road directions from the true orthoimage. Each region’s road candidates are selected with a proposed free passage measure. This process is called the “acupuncture” method. Features around the road candidates are used as key factors for an advanced “acupuncture method” called the region-based acupuncture method. Extracted road candidates are edited to avoid collocation with non-road features such as buildings and grass fields. In order to produce a building map for the prior step, a first-last return analysis and morphological filter are used with the lidar point cloud. A grass area thematic map is generated by supervised classification techniques from a synthetic image, which contains the three color bands from the true orthoimage and the lidar intensity value. Those non-road feature maps are used as a blocking mask for the roads. The accuracy of the result is evaluated quantitatively with respect to manually compiled road vectors, and a completeness of 80 percent and a correctness of 79 percent are obtained with the proposed algorithm on an area of 1,081,600 square meters.
