[Termes IGN] qualité des eauxRésumé : (Auteur) The applicability of image calibration to likevalues in mapping water quality parameters from multitemporal images is explored. Six sets of water samples were collected at satellite overpasses over Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Australia. Analysis of these samples reveals that waters in this shallow bay are mostly TSS dominated, even though they are occasionally dominated by chlorophyll as well. Three of the images were calibrated to a reference image based on invariant targets. Predictive models constructed from the reference image were applied to estimating total suspended sediment (TSS) and Secchi depth from another image at a discrepancy of around 35 percent. Application of the predictive model for TSS concentration to another image acquired at a time of different water types resulted in a discrepancy of 152 percent. Therefore, image calibration to likevalues could be used to reliably map certain water quality parameters from multitemporal TM images so long as the water type under study remains unchanged. This method is limited in that the mapped results could be rather inaccurate if the water type under study has changed considerably. Thus, the approach needs to be refined in shallow water from multitemporal satellite imagery. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) A number of haze removal methods for, satellite imagery have been described in the literature, but few papers have quantified their effectiveness within the context of a postprocessing applications scenario. In this, paper, the haze optimized transform (HOT) approach for visibleband correction is described, and its impact on classification performance is evaluated. Assessment is conducted at three levels: radiometric level of accuracy, improvement in interclass separability, and classification accuracy. Results obtained from hazy scenes and their dehazed, counterparts are compared with those from reference or "benchmark" clear scenes. Radiometric analyses of pseudoinvariant features (dense forest stands) indicate that effective haze reduction can be realized for differential HOT response levels of up to 20 for Landsat Thematic Mapper scenes. This level of atmospheric contamination is severe enough, to result in significant thematic class confusion, wherein visibleband radiances of vegetated areas are at levels normally associated with urban features under clear sky conditions. [Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) We show how fuzzy and rough data are transformed into a unified representation using the concept of rough fuzzy sets. We introduced a representation for rough fuzzy classifications that might be used when the classification process introduces uncertainty in the data due to vagueness and indiscernibility. We demonstrate the viability of our method by performing classification experiments using real data. The experiment uses data that have been classified using different classification schemes. To make them compatible we reclassify some data and use some additional knowledge that requires the use of rough fuzzy classifications. Les images Ikonos ont fourni des données sur la biomasse et les images Landsat ont rendu possible l'analyse multispectrale. Un des avantages de cette combinaison est la capacité à distinguer les variations précises de la canopée sur un large site. The algorithm is composed of a set of thresholds applied to each pixel's value of the VGT spectral channels, two spectral indices and their temporal difference. The threshold values have been derived by means of a supervised classification methodology based on the classification and regression trees algorithm. A procedure has also been developed specifically for pre-processing the daily SI images for burnt area mapping purposes. The final product is composed of ten day and monthly burnt area maps over Australia for the full year 2000.
