[Termes IGN] végétationRésumé : (Auteur) A digital elevation model (DEM) extracted from Ikonos in-track stereo images using a 3D physical model developed at the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing, Natural Resources Canada was evaluated. First, the stereo photogrammetric bundle adjustment was set up with about ten accurate ground control points. The DEM was then generated using an area-based multiscale image matching method and 3D semiautomatic editing tools and then compared to lidar elevation data with a 0.2-m accuracy. Because the DEM is, in fact, a digital terrain surface model where the height of land cover (trees, houses) is included, the accuracy varies depending on land cover types. Using 3D visual classification of the stereo Ikonos images, different classes (forests, residential, bare soil, lakes) were generated to take into account the height of the surface (natural and human-made) in the accuracy evaluation. An elevation linear error with 68 percent confidence level (LE68) of 1.5 m was obtained for bare surfaces while an LE68 of 6.4 m was achieved over the full area. Five-meter contour lines could thus be derived, compliant with the highest topographic standard. Better results could thus be expected when using stereo-images acquired in the summertime. On the other hand, an LE68 of 2.5 m to 6.6 m was obtained depending on the land-cover type and its surface height. For residential areas, the surface height did not affect the errors very much (2.5-m LE68) when compared to bare surface results because one- and two-story houses were sparse in the test area. Because the images were unfortunately acquired in wintertime and the lidar data in summertime, elevation errors (LE68 and bias) also depended on the type of forest (deciduous, coniferous, mixed, sparse). An evaluation based on terrain slope and azimuth showed that the DEM error was linearly correlated with slope and that elevations on sun-facing slopes were 1-m more accurate than elevations on slopes facing away from the sun. [Termes IGN] méthode des moindres carrésRésumé : (Auteur) One of the challenges in remote sensing image processing is subpixel detection where the target size is smaller than the ground sampling distance, therefore, embedded in a single pixel. Under such a circumstance, these targets can be only detected spectrally at the subpixel level, not spatially as ordinarily conducted by classical image processing techniques. This paper investigates a more challenging issue than subpixel detection, which is the estimation of target size at the subpixel level. More specifically, when a subpixel target is detected, we would like to know "what is the size of this particular target within the pixel?" The proposed approach is to estimate the abundance fraction of a subpixel target present in a pixel, then find what portion it contributes to the pixel that can be used to determine the size of the subpixel target by multiplying the ground sampling distance. In order to make our idea work, the subpixel target abundance fraction must be accurately estimated to truly reflect the portion of a subpixel target occupied within a pixel. So, a fully constrained linear unmixing method is required to reliably estimate the abundance fractions of a subpixel target for its size estimation. In this paper, a recently developed fully constrained least squares linear unmixing is used for this purpose. Experiments are conducted to demonstrate the utility of the proposed method in comparison with an unconstrained linear unmixing method, onconstrained least squares method, two partially constrained last square linear unmixing methods, sum-to-one constrained least squares, and nonnegativity constrained least squares. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a new model for handling positional uncertainty in the process of line simplification. It considers that positional uncertainty in a simplified line is caused by (a) positional uncertainty in an initial line propagated through the process and (b) a deviation of the simplified line from the initial line. In order to describe the uncertainty in the simplified line, the maximum distance is defined as a measure. This measure is further adopted to determine parameters to a line simplification algorithm. Therefore, this model makes a step forward in the implementation of an uncertainty indicator for the line simplification. As compared existing models, the proposed uncertainty model in this paper is more comprehensive in uncertainty assessment for line simplification Numéro de notice : A2004-279 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE/INFORMATIQUE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1179/000870404225019990 En ligne : https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1179/000870404225019990 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26806
