[Termes IGN] tomographieRésumé : (Auteur) The application of a maximum a posteriori estimation method for microwave imaging that makes use of a Markov random field (MRF) a priori statistical model is presented in this paper. In particular, the MRF family adopted is generalized for complex profiles, characterized by a quadratic energy function and "modified" such to make it possible to statistically represent spatial interactions between real and imaginary parts. Thanks to its peculiarities, the use of this approach simultaneously favors in many cases well posedness and robustness against local minima occurrence, as well as high quality in the reconstructed images. Numerical results show the performance of the method. [Termes IGN] segmentation en régionsRésumé : (auteur) A set of particular subgraphs of a valued graph, called cocoons, is introduced. Within the image segmentation framework, the cocoons represent a model of contrasted regions. It is shown that the cocoons are organized into a hierarchy which is a sub-hierarchy of the one produced by the standard clustering algorithm of complete linkage. This result thus offers a new point of view on what the complete linkage algorithm achieves when it is applied on image data. For segmentation purposes, the hierarchy is built on a region adjacency graph valued with a dissimilarity function. It’s construction is efficient, parameter free, and robust towards monotone transformations of the dissimilarities. It is illustrated that the simplest cut criterion in these hierarchies, based on thresholding an associated ultrametric distance, already produces meaningful segmentations. [Termes IGN] zone sinistréeRésumé : (auteur) (Auteur) An algorithm has been developed to map burnt areas over the Australian continent using SPOTVEGETATION (VGT) SI satellite images. The algorithm is composed of a set of thresholds applied to each pixel's value of the VGT spectral channels, two spectral indices and their temporal difference. The threshold values have been derived by means of a supervised classification methodology based on the classification and regression trees algorithm. A procedure has also been developed specifically for pre-processing the daily SI images for burnt area mapping purposes. The final product is composed of ten day and monthly burnt area maps over Australia for the full year 2000.
