[Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) Automated generalization software must accommodate multi-scale representations of hydrographic networks across a variety of geographic landscapes, because scale-related hydrography differences are known to vary in different physical conditions. While generalization algorithms have been tailored to specific regions and landscape conditions by several researchers in recent years, the selection and characterization of regional conditions have not been formally defined nor statistically validated. This paper undertakes a systematic classification of landscape types in the conterminous United States to spatially subset the country into workable units, in preparation for systematic tailoring of generalization workflows that preserve hydrographic characteristics. The classification is based upon elevation, standard deviation of elevation, slope, runoff, drainage and bedrock density, soil and bedrock permeability, area of inland surface water, infiltration-excess of overland flow, and a base flow index. A seven class solution shows low misclassification rates except in areas of high landscape diversity such as the Appalachians, Rocky Mountains, and Western coastal regions. [Termes IGN] urbanisationRésumé : (auteur) International communication and global cooperation have greatly accelerated the worldwide spread of dengue fever, increasing the impact of imported cases on dengue outbreaks in non-naturally endemic areas. Existing studies mostly focus on describing the quantitative relationship between imported cases and local transmission but ignore the space-time diffusion mode of imported cases under the influence of individual mobility. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive framework at a fine scale to establish the disease transmission network and a mathematical model, which constructs ‘source-sink’ links between the imported and indigenous cases on a regular grid with a spatial resolution of 1 km to explore the diffusion pattern and spatiotemporal heterogeneity of imported cases. An application to Guangzhou, China, reveals the main flow and transmission path of imported cases under the influence of human movement and identifies the spatiotemporal distribution of transmission speed according to the time lag of each source-sink link. In addition, we demonstrate that using individual-based movement data and socio-economic factors to study human mobility and imported cases can help to understand the driving forces of dengue spread. Our research provides a comprehensive framework for the analysis of early dengue transmission patterns with benefits to similar urban applications. [Termes IGN] télédétectionRésumé : (auteur) During the last few years, artificial intelligence based on deep learning, and particularly based on convolutional neural networks, has acted as a game changer in just about all tasks related to photogrammetry and remote sensing. Results have shown partly significant improvements in many projects all across the photogrammetric processing chain from image orientation to surface reconstruction, scene classification as well as change detection, object extraction and object tracking and recognition in image sequences. This paper summarizes the foundations of deep learning for photogrammetry and remote sensing before illustrating, by way of example, different projects being carried out at the Institute of Photogrammetry and GeoInformation, Leibniz University Hannover, in this exciting and fast moving field of research and development. The conventional deep convolutional neural networks based methods usually take the amplitude information of single-polarization SAR images as the input to learn hierarchical spatial features automatically, which may have difficulties in discriminating objects with similar texture but discriminative scattering patterns. Our novel deep learning framework, Deep SAR-Net, takes complex-valued SAR images into consideration to learn both spatial texture information and backscattering patterns of objects on the ground. On the one hand, we transfer the detected SAR images pre-trained layers to extract spatial features from intensity images. On the other hand, we dig into the Fourier domain to learn physical properties of the objects by joint time-frequency analysis on complex-valued SAR images. We evaluate the effectiveness of Deep SAR-Net on three complex-valued SAR datasets from Sentinel-1 and TerraSAR-X satellite and demonstrate how it works better than conventional deep CNNs, especially on man-made objects classes. The proposed datasets and the trained Deep SAR-Net model with all codes are provided. [Termes IGN] voisinage (relation topologique)Résumé : (Auteur) Multispectral light detection and ranging (MS-LiDAR) systems open the door to the possibility in the 3-D land cover classification at a finer scale using only point cloud data. This article proposes a model based on the tensor representation for multispectral point cloud classification. The proposed method combines the 3-D local spatial structure of each multispectral point by characterizing the point with a second-order tensor. The first mode of the tensor indicates the spatial location and spectral information of each point (i.e., the row of the second-order tensor) and the second mode denotes the neighborhood geometric and spectral structures (i.e., the column of the second-order tensor). Then we develop a novel tensor manifold discriminant embedding (TMDE) algorithm to extract the geometric–spectral features for multispectral point clouds classification. TMDE solves the mapping matrices of each mode by preserving the intraclass samples’ distribution further making it more compact and maximizing the distance of different classes. Finally, the support vector machine classifier with the extracted features as input is used to implement the classification of multispectral point clouds. Experiments are conducted on two real multispectral point cloud data sets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve significant improvements in classification accuracies in comparison with several state-of-the-art algorithms.
