[Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (auteur) In real world scenarios, people’s movement include several environments rather than one, for example, road network, pavement areas and indoor. This imposes a new challenge for moving objects database that the complete trip needs to be managed by a database system. In the meantime, novel queries regarding different transportation modes should also be supported. Since existing methods are limited to trips in a single environment and do not support queries on moving objects with different transportation modes, new technologies are essentially needed in a database system. In this paper, we introduce a benchmark called GMOBench that aims to evaluate the performance of a database system managing moving objects in different environments. GMOBench is settled in a realistic scenario and is comprised of three components: (1) a data generator with the capability of creating a scalable set of trips representing the complete movement of humans (both indoor and outdoor); (2) a set of carefully designed and benchmark queries; (3) Mode-RTree, an index structure for managing generic moving objects. The generator defines some parameters so that users can control the characteristics of results. We create the benchmark data in such a way that the dataset can mirror important characteristics and real world distributions of human mobility. Efficient access methods and optimization techniques are developed for query processing. In particular, we propose an index structure called Mode-RTree to manage moving objects in different environments. By employing the proposed index, the cost of benchmark queries is greatly reduced. GMOBench is implemented in a real database system to have a practical result. We perform an extensive experimental study on comprehensive datasets to evaluate the performance. The results show that by using the Mode-RTree we achieve significant performance improvement over the baseline method, demonstrating the effectiveness and efficiency of our approaches. [Termes IGN] requête spatiale inverseRésumé : (auteur) A reverse k-nearest neighbour (RkNN) query determines the objects from a database that have the query as one of their k-nearest neighbors. Processing such a query has received plenty of attention in research. However, the effect of running multiple RkNN queries at once (join) or within a short time interval (bulk/group query) has only received little attention so far. In this paper, we analyze different types of RkNN joins and provide a classification of existing RkNN join algorithms. We discuss possible solutions for solving the non-trivial variants of the problem in vector spaces, including self and mutual pruning strategies. Further, we generalize the developed algorithms to general metric spaces. During an extensive performance analysis we provide evaluation results showing the IO and CPU performance of the compared algorithms for a wide range of different setups and suggest appropriate query algorithms for specific scenarios. [Termes IGN] web sémantiqueRésumé : (Auteur) There has been significant progress transforming semi-structured data about places into knowledge graphs that can be used in a wide variety of geographic information systems such as digital gazetteers or geographic information retrieval systems. For instance, in addition to information about events, actors, and objects, DBpedia contains data about hundreds of thousands of places from Wikipedia and publishes it as Linked Data. Repositories that store data about places are among the most interlinked hubs on the Linked Data cloud. However, most content about places resides in unstructured natural language text, and therefore it is not captured in these knowledge graphs. Instead, place representations are limited to facts such as their population counts, geographic locations, and relations to other entities, for example, headquarters of companies or historical figures. In this paper, we present a novel method to enrich the information stored about places in knowledge graphs using thematic signatures that are derived from unstructured text through the process of topic modeling. As proof of concept, we demonstrate that this enables the automatic categorization of articles into place types defined in the DBpedia ontology (e.g., mountain) and also provides a mechanism to infer relationships between place types that are not captured in existing ontologies. This method can also be used to uncover miscategorized places, which is a common problem arising from the automatic lifting of unstructured and semi-structured data. [Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (auteur) 3D building models, being the main part of a digital city scene, are essential to all applications related to human activities in urban environments. The development of range sensors and Multi-View Stereo (MVS) technology facilitates our ability to automatically reconstruct level of details 2 (LoD2) models of buildings. However, because of the high complexity of building structures, no fully automatic system is currently available for producing building models. In order to simplify the problem, a lot of research focuses only on particular buildings shapes, and relatively simple ones. In this paper, we analyze the property of topology graphs of object surfaces, and find that roof topology graphs have three basic elements: loose nodes, loose edges, and minimum cycles. These elements have interesting physical meanings: a loose node is a building with one roof face; a loose edge is a ridge line between two roof faces whose end points are not defined by a third roof face; and a minimum cycle represents a roof corner of a building. Building primitives, which introduce building shape knowledge, are defined according to these three basic elements. Then all buildings can be represented by combining such building primitives. The building parts are searched according to the predefined building primitives, reconstructed independently, and grouped into a complete building model in a CSG-style. The shape knowledge is inferred via the building primitives and used as constraints to improve the building models, in which all roof parameters are simultaneously adjusted. Experiments show the flexibility of building primitives in both lidar point cloud and stereo point cloud.
