[Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (Auteur) Estimates of solar radiation distribution in urban areas are often limited by the complexity of urban environments. These limitations arise from spatial structures such as buildings and trees that affect spatial and temporal distributions of solar fluxes over urban surfaces. The traditional solar radiation models implemented in GIS can address this problem only partially. They can be adequately used only for 2-D surfaces such as terrain and rooftops. However, vertical surfaces, such as facades, require a 3-D approach. This study presents a new 3-D solar radiation model for urban areas represented by 3-D city models. The v.sun module implemented in GRASS GIS is based on the existing solar radiation methodology used in the topographic r.sun model with a new capability to process 3-D vector data representing complex urban environments. The calculation procedure is based on the combined vector-voxel approach segmenting the 3-D vector objects to smaller polygon elements according to a voxel data structure of the volume region. The shadowing effects of surrounding objects are considered using a unique shadowing algorithm. The proposed model has been applied to the sample urban area with results showing strong spatial and temporal variations of solar radiation flows over complex urban surfaces. [Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (Auteur) This paper offers a methodology for the semi-automatic extraction of control points for phototriangulation by using laser intensity images. The control points are determined by the intersection of three or more plane features which make up the roof of houses or building or constructions in general. The features under study are selected visually in aerial photos of constructions in which there are three or more sloped roofs presenting concurrent plane features. These constructions are identified in laser intensity image, and the plane features which define their roofs are extracted and individually adjusted from a group of points which result from the survey undertaken with airborne laser scanner. Control points are determined through the intersection of roof planes of each construction previously adjusted. By using this technique, it is possible to use the points obtained from plane feature intersection in a computational routine, thus replacing the ones obtained in the field. The airborne points were processed in a semi-automated way to rebuild the plane features of building roofs. Thus, they were identified in laser intensity image and extracted from Delaunay's triangulation. Finally, the analysis of normal vectors of the generated triangulation is realized. The methodology was tested by phototriangulation with bundle adjustment and supported by the points obtained from laser scanner and by checking points the ones pre-signalized and which where obtained from the field with GPS help. A photogrammetric block formed by six aerial photos obtained by non-metric digital camera was used for tests. The results were analysed and compared, and the methodology used was recommended. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) As a result of new sensors and methodologies that allow for faster and more accurate data acquisition, the production of highly detailed 3D models is becoming part of the standard workflow in many disciplines – architecture, cultural heritage, urban planning, and others. At the same time, new related problems have emerged concerning the management of the resulting large datasets and the integration of data coming from different sources. Data integration among heterogeneous datasets can lead to a variety of errors, and the reasons for these errors are multiple including geometric, topological or semantic incompatibilities, different resolutions and accuracies, and data acquired at different times. To overcome such errors, the integration of heterogeneous datasets requires appropriate homogenisation techniques. This article presents a new deterministic approach for the integration of a high resolution surface model and a lower resolution surface model, both given as triangular meshes embedded in 3D space, by means of a transition surface. The method can be applied after both datasets have been aligned. The derivation of the transition surface exploits extra data that are typically available in the high resolution model. These extra data (e.g. quite common when using a laser scanner) must be 2.5D and located around the high resolution model, they represent a sort of planimetric buffer around the high resolution object that can be thought as a “collar”. The proposed method generates a geometrically and topologically sound and continuous 2.5D surface that integrates the two models using the data contained in the collar. It takes into account the different quality aspects of the low and high resolution models such as point height, point density, and height gradient, and then creates a transition surface that interpolates these aspects between the embedded high resolution model and the surrounding low resolution model. The article also presents some experimental results, obtained from real datasets, and concludes with some remaining issues and possible improvements to the method.
