[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (auteur) There is no doubt about how useful and valuable the information provided by the hyperspectral sensors can be. Image
segmentation procedures can take advantage of this information to increase the ability for separating different textures in an image. A multiscale approach for segmenting hyperspectral images is presented in this work. The method is based on the recently proposed texem model which has been extended in this work to spaces of high dimensionality. Furthermore, the hyperspectral extension of the texem-based segmentation would be computationally impracticable without a prior step for reducing the dimensionality. Thus, a band selection process based on the mutual information among bands has also been applied. The complete process is particularly useful in applications for remote sensing or quality inspection tasks.Numéro de notice : C2008-035 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Communication DOI : sans Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=103092 Determination of robust spectral features for identification of urban surface materials in hyperspectral remote sensing data / U. [Termes IGN] surface du solRésumé : (Auteur) Hyperspectral remote sensing data open up new opportunities for analyzing urban areas characterized by a large variety of spectrally distinct surface materials. Spectroscopic analysis using diagnostic spectral features yields the potential for automated identification and mapping of these materials. This study proposes a new approach for the determination and evaluation of such spectral features that are robust against spectral overlap between material classes and within-class variability. Analysis is based on comprehensive field and image spectral libraries of more than 21,000 spectra of surface materials widely-used in German cities. The robustness of the interactively defined spectral features is evaluated by a separability analysis. This method is performed based on confusion matrices for each material computed from classification results. For comparison this analysis is also performed for material-specific gray values of selected bands. The obtained commission and omission errors show superiority of the spectral features compared to gray values for most of the investigated materials. The results indicate that robust spectral features yield the potential for unsupervised detection of endmembers in hyperspectral image data.

[Termes IGN] précision de la classificationRésumé : (Auteur) Effective partitioning of the feature space for high classification accuracy with due attention to rare class members is often a difficult task. In this paper, the border vector detection and adaptation (BVDA) algorithm is proposed for this purpose. The BVDA consists of two parts. In the first part of the algorithm, some specially selected training samples are assigned as initial reference vectors called border vectors. In the second part of the algorithm, the border vectors are adapted by moving them toward the decision boundaries. At the end of the adaptation process, the border vectors are finalized. The method next uses the minimum distance to border vector rule for classification. In supervised learning, the training process should be unbiased to reach more accurate results in testing. In the BVDA, decision region borders are related to the initialization of the border vectors and the input ordering of the training samples. Consensus strategy can be applied with cross validation to reduce these dependencies. The performance of the BVDA and consensual BVDA were studied in comparison to other classification algorithms including neural network with backpropagation learning, support vector machines, and some statistical classification techniques.
