[Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) Recent research has shown that utilizing the spectral-spatial information can improve the performance of hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. Since HSI is a 3-D cube datum, 3-D spatial filtering becomes a simple and effective method for extracting the spectral-spatial information. In this paper, we propose a 3-D scattering wavelet transform, which filters the HSI cube data with a cascade of wavelet decompositions, complex modulus, and local weighted averaging. The scattering feature can adequately capture the spectral-spatial information for classification. In the classification step, a support vector machine based on Gaussian kernel is used as a classifier due to its capability to deal with high-dimensional data. Our method is fully evaluated on four classic HSIs, i.e., Indian Pines, Pavia University, Botswana, and Kennedy Space Center. The classification results show that our method achieves as high as 94.46%, 99.30%, 97.57%, and 95.20% accuracies, respectively, when only 5% of the total samples per class is labeled. [Termes IGN] surveillance de la végétationRésumé : (Auteur) The use of multispectral satellite sensors for generation of hyperspectral indices is restricted because of their coarse spectral resolutions. In this study, we attempted to synthesize a few of these hyperspectral indices, viz. RedEdge Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI705), Plant Senescence Reflectance Index (PSRI) and Normalized-Difference-Infrared-Index (NDII), for crop stress monitoring at regional scale using multispectral images, simulated from Hyperion data. The Hyperion data were resampled and simulated to corresponding spatial and spectral resolutions of AWiFS, OCM-2 and MODIS sensors using their respective filter function. Different possible combinations of two bands (i.e. simple difference, simple ratio and normalized difference) were computed using synthetic spectral bands of each sensor, and were regressed with NDVI705, PSRI and NDII. Models with highest correlation were selected and inverted on Hyperion data of another date to synthesize respective multispectral indices. Synthetic broad band indices of multispectral sensors with their respective narrow band indices of Hyperion were found to be in good agreement. [Termes IGN] Rotation Forest classificationRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we propose a new spectral-spatial classification strategy to enhance the classification performances obtained on hyperspectral images by integrating rotation forests and Markov random fields (MRFs). First, rotation forests are performed to obtain the class probabilities based on spectral information. Rotation forests create diverse base learners using feature extraction and subset features. The feature set is randomly divided into several disjoint subsets; then, feature extraction is performed separately on each subset, and a new set of linear extracted features is obtained. The base learner is trained with this set. An ensemble of classifiers is constructed by repeating these steps several times. The weak classifier of hyperspectral data, classification and regression tree (CART), is selected as the base classifier because it is unstable, fast, and sensitive to rotations of the axes. In this case, small changes in the training data of CART lead to a large change in the results, generating high diversity within the ensemble. Four feature extraction methods, including principal component analysis (PCA), neighborhood preserving embedding (NPE), linear local tangent space alignment (LLTSA), and linearity preserving projection (LPP), are used in rotation forests. Second, spatial contextual information, which is modeled by MRF prior, is used to refine the classification results obtained from the rotation forests by solving a maximum a posteriori problem using the α-expansion graph cuts optimization method. Experimental results, conducted on three hyperspectral data with different resolutions and different contexts, reveal that rotation forest ensembles are competitive with other strong supervised classification methods, such as support vector machines. Rotation forests with local feature extraction methods, including NPE, LLTSA, and LPP, can lead to higher classification accuracies than that achieved by PCA. With the help of MRF, the proposed algorithms can improve the classification accuracies significantly, confirming the importance of spatial contextual information in hyperspectral spectral-spatial classification. [Termes IGN] image hyperspectraleRésumé : (Auteur) Gaussian process (GP) classifiers represent a powerful and interesting theoretical framework for the Bayesian classification of hyperspectral images. However, the collection of labeled samples is time consuming and costly for hyperspectral data, and the training samples available are often not enough for an adequate learning of the GP classifier. Moreover, the computational cost of performing inference using GP classifiers scales cubically with the size of the training set. To address the limitations of GP classifiers for hyperspectral image classification, reducing the label cost and keeping the training set in a moderate size, this paper introduces an active learning (AL) strategy to collect the most informative training samples for manual labeling. First, we propose three new AL heuristics based on the probabilistic output of GP classifiers aimed at actively selecting the most uncertain and confusing candidate samples from the unlabeled data. Moreover, we develop an incremental model updating scheme to avoid the repeated training of the GP classifiers during the AL process. The proposed approaches are tested on the classification of two realworld hyperspectral data. Comparison with random sampling method reveals a better accuracy gain and faster convergence with the number of queries, and comparison with recent active learning approaches shows a competitive performance. Experimental results also verified the efficiency of the incremental model updating scheme.
