[Termes IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (Auteur) This study investigates the seasonal variation of precipitable water vapor, moisture transport and precipitation over Morocco and the Canary Islands using data from ground-based GPS receivers, radiosondes, GPCP and NCEP reanalysis II. In a first part, the datasets are inter-compared. Humidity biases are evidenced in both radiosonde observations (dry) and NCEP reanalysis (dry and wet) compared to GPS. Moisture transport and precipitation from the reanalysis and observations show a good agreement. Precipitable water shows a maximum in late summer whereas precipitation is peaking in winter and spring over Morocco. Moisture transport occurs preferentially in two layers, below and above 850 hPa. The monthly mean precipitable water variation over Morocco is controlled by the upper layer zonal and meridional moisture flux. Precipitation is rather controlled by the lower layer moisture flux and the upper layer meridional flux. The GPS tropospheric gradients show also a consistent seasonal evolution, which is explained by gradients both in the thickness of the troposphere and in the precipitable water vapor. Tropospheric gradients are correlated with moisture fluxes, mostly in the upper layer, and may therefore provide valuable information for meteorology and climatology. A new flight was carried out in the region three days after the earthquake to obtain more accurate Lidar data to supplement the data that was already available thanks to the PNOA project from 2009. The new Lidar data was also made available to anyone who needed it, allowing the damage to be assessed quickly and efficiently. In the case of a natural disaster, releasing data obtained both from flights beforehand and afterwards allows relevant users to create an inventory of the damage and detect any changes quickly and accurately using the appropriate tools. [Termes IGN] satellite artificielRésumé : (Auteur) The proposed method in this paper uses circular statistics for the analysis of errors in the positional accuracy of geometric corrections satellite images using Independent Check Lines (ICL) instead of Independent Check Points (ICP). Circular statistics has been preferred because of the vectorial nature of the spatial error. A study case has been presented and discussed in detail. From the terra-aster images of Extremadura area (Spain), the Ground Control Point (GCP), ICP, and ICL data were acquired using differential GPS through field survey, and the planimetric positional accuracy was analyzed by both the conventional method (using ICP) and the proposed method (using ICL). Comparing conventional and proposed methods, the results indicated that modulus statistics are similar (e.g., RMSE of Geometric Correction 1 were 17.5 for the conventional method and 17.2 m for proposed method). But as additional results, azimuthal component statistics was calculated (e.g., mean direction: 247.2° in Geometric Correction 1), and several tests were made which showed the error distribution are not uniform and normal.
