[Termes IGN] SuisseIndex. décimale : 30.43 Travaux de géodésie physique Résumé : (Auteur) The geophysical and geodetic interpretation of variations of the earth's gravity field has been the goal of numerous geophysical and geodetic investigations in the last two decades. While most of the publications report on the interpretation of either gravity data only or astro-geodetic data only, no methods were published until now enabling a simultaneous treatment of all three components of the gravity vector. The main task of this thesis was to apply modem zenith camera systems and gravimeters for the determination of both data sets. A total of 117 astronomic stations was observed in northern Italy and southern Switzerland where the prominent zone of Ivrea Verbano causes very significant disturbances of the gravity field. For the determination of ellipsoidal coordinates two Doppler satellite receivers MX1502 were used in the translocation mode.
The astro geodetic and gravity measurements were used to interpret the deep seated mass disturbance caused by the Ivrea body in terms of location, size and density contrast. The entire structure was assembled by a series of elementary bodies which can be oriented arbitrarily in space and from which the gravitational attraction can be computed by using rigorous formulae. For the geophysical interpretation the effects of all known mass inhomogeneities had to be removed from the measured values. The remaining residual field can be considered as the true signal caused by the Ivrea body. The reductions which were applied in our work include digital mass models for the following effects: topography, Moho discontinuity, sediments of the Po plain and of the main valleys, lakes as well as geological reductions for nearsurface structures. Furthermore an appropriate mathematical model was used to perform a least-squares adjustment for estimating the following parameters: Density contrast of a single or several elementary structures with respect to the mean density value; changes in the geometry of every single element (either rectangular or triangular prisms); changes in the position or spatial orientation of every element.
As a result of our investigations a new astro gravimetric model for the Ivrea body is presented. It reveals the following aspects:
the proposed steepness of the Ivrea body on its northern part underneath the Insubric line cannot be confirmed by our astro gravimetric measurements. On the contrary, the measurements show a mass excess which reaches its maximum north of Locarno. There a big wedge reaching down to the Moho is needed to satisfy the measurements. In spite of the fact that the Insubric line cuts this northern continuation the density contrast of +0.4gcm3 corresponds well with the density contrast encountered south of this tectonic lineament. This interpretation is in contrast with seismic results which show a pronounced velocity inversion-zone beneath the Ivrea body. On the other hand, this would produce a large mass deficit. Since the answer to this particular question is very important for the study of the evolution of the Ivrea zone, more seismic investigations would be very helpful.
in the eastern continuation of the Ivrea body a large mass anomaly is reflected showing a low density contrast of only +0.1 gcm3.
Besides the use of these measurements for the described purpose the data are also of importance for the determination of the geoïd. First test computations have confirmed the excellent accuracy of the geoïd which was thereby improved down to the centimeter level over an area of approximately 100 x 100 km.Numéro de notice : 12598 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Monographie En ligne : https://www.sgc.ethz.ch/sgc-volumes/sgk-40.pdf Format de la ressource électronique : URL Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=54701 Réservation
