[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) The perspective distortion of oblique images has a substantial impact on dense matching, i.e., it reduces the matching precision. In this article, a strategy of dense matching in which the object plane direction is considered is proposed. According to many regular planes in urban areas, epipolar rectification with minimum distortions relative to the selected reference planes can be generated. The matching results of epipolar images relative to various reference planes are weighted and fused into a single depth map, which is a better matching result. The experimental results demonstrate that the perspective distortion has a substantial influence on the dense matching performance. The root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the flatness for horizontal objects is increased by approximately 30%, and the RMSE of the flatness for façades is increased by approximately 40%. Hence, the proposed matching strategy, in which the object plane is considered, can effectively improve the matching results. [Termes IGN] vent de sableRésumé : (auteur) Sand dune migration poses a potential threat to desert infrastructure, vegetation, and atmospheric conditions. Capturing the patterns of long-term dune migration is useful for predicting probable desertification issues and wind conditions across vast desert areas. In this study, we employed optical image matching and a singular value decomposition approach to estimate the rates of dune migration in the North Sinai Sand Sea using the free Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 archives. Our optical image matching time-series selection and inversion (OPTSI) algorithm limited the difference in the solar illumination of correlated pairs to decrease shadows and seasonal variability. We found that the maximum annual dune migration rates were 9.4 m/a and 15.9 m/a for Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 data, respectively, and the results of time-series analysis revealed the existence of seasonal variations in dune migration controlled by wind regimes. The directions of sand movement extracted from the mean velocity solution agreed strongly with each other and with the drift directions estimated using wind data from meteorological stations. We assessed the uncertainty of each solution based on the variance of stable areas. Our results showed that the proposed inversion decreased uncertainty by up to 25% and increased the spatial coverage by up to 20%. This algorithm is also promising for the retrieval of historical time series on the ground displacements of glaciers and slow-moving landslides employing free archives that provide high-frequency images. [Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) As people grow accustomed to effortless outdoor navigation, there is a rising demand for similar possibilities indoors as well. Unfortunately, indoor localization, being one of the requirements for navigation, continues to be a problem without a clear solution. In this article, we are proposing a method for an indoor positioning system using a single image. This is made possible using a small preprocessed database of images with known control points as the only preprocessing needed. Using feature detection with the SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm, we can look through the database and find an image that is the most similar to the image taken by a user. Such a pair of images is then used to find coordinates of a database of images using the PnP problem. Furthermore, projection and essential matrices are determined to calculate the user image localization—determining the position of the user in the indoor environment. The benefits of this approach lie in the single image being the only input from a user and the lack of requirements for new onsite infrastructure. Thus, our approach enables a more straightforward realization for building management. [Termes IGN] trajet multipleRésumé : (auteur) The investigations on low-cost single frequency GNSS receivers at the Institute of Engineering Geodesy (IIGS) show that u-blox GNSS receivers combined with low-cost antennas and self-constructed L1-optimized choke rings can reach an accuracy which almost meets the requirements of geodetic applications (see Zhang and Schwieger [25]). However, the quality (accuracy and reliability) of low-cost GNSS receiver data should still be improved, particularly in environments with obstructions. The multipath effects are a major error source for the short baselines. The ground plate or the choke ring ground plane can reduce the multipath signals from the horizontal reflector (e. g. ground). However, the shieldings cannot reduce the multipath signals from the vertical reflectors (e. g. walls). Because multipath effects are spatially and temporally correlated, an algorithm is developed for reducing the multipath effect by considering the spatial correlations of the adjoined stations (see Zhang and Schwieger [24]). In this paper, an algorithm based on the temporal correlations will be introduced. The developed algorithm is based on the periodic behavior of the estimated coordinates and not on carrier phase raw data, which is easy to use. Because, for the users, coordinates are more accessible than the raw data. The multipath effect can cause periodic oscillations but the periods change over time. Besides this, the multipath effect’s influence on the coordinates is a mixture of different multipath signals from different satellites and different reflectors. These two properties will be used to reduce the multipath effect. The algorithm runs in two steps and iteratively. Test measurements were carried out in a multipath intensive environment; the accuracies of the measurements are improved by about 50 % and the results can be delivered in near-real-time (in ca. 30 minutes), therefore the algorithm is suitable for structural health monitoring applications.
