[Termes IGN] MSER (algorithme)Résumé : (auteur) Image matching is a vital process for many photogrammetric and remote sensing applications such as image registration and aerial triangulation. In this paper, an accurate affine invariant image matching approach is presented. The proposed approach consists of three main steps. In the first step, two affine invariant feature detectors, including MSER and Harris-Affine features are applied for feature extraction. In the second step, initial corresponding features are selected using Euclidean distance between feature descriptors, followed by a consistency check process. Finally to overcome low positional accuracy of the local affine feature, an advanced version of the least square matching (LSM) namely, Oriented Least Square Matching (OLSM) is developed. Wellknown LSM method has been widely accepted as one of the most accurate methods to obtain high reliable corresponding points from a stereo image pair. However, it is sensitive to significant geometric distortion and requires very good initial approximation. In the proposed OLSM method, shape and size of the matching window are appropriately approximated using obtained affine shape information of the initial elliptical feature pairs. The proposed method was successfully applied for matching various synthetic and real close range and satellite images. Automatic and reliable feature matching using well-distributed points in very high resolution images is a difficult task due to significant relief displacement caused by tall buildings and ground relief. In this paper a robust and efficient image-matching approach is proposed, consisting of two main steps. In the first step, three sets of local features – Harris points, UR-SIFT and MSER – are extracted over the entire image. A SIFT (scale-invariant feature transform) descriptor is then created for each extracted feature, and an initial cross-matching verification is performed using the Euclidean distance between feature descriptors. In the second step, an approach based on k-means clustering is performed to achieve accurate matching without mismatched features, followed by a consistency check using a local affine transformation model for each cluster. The proposed method is successfully applied to matching various aerial and satellite images and the results demonstrate its robustness and capability. [Termes IGN] signal GPSRésumé : (auteur) We discuss the application of the Three-Corner Hat (TCH) to time series of space-geodetic station position residuals with the purpose of characterizing the uncertainties of GPS, VLBI, SLR, DORIS for the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) determination. Adopting simulations, we show that, in the absence of time-correlated errors, TCH is able to fully recover the nominal uncertainties of groups of observations whose intrinsic precisions are remarkably dissimilar to one another, as is the case for the space-geodetic techniques. When time-correlated errors are predominant, as it happens with GPS, TCH is affected by the increased variance of the observations and its estimates are positively biased. TCH applied to 16 ITRF co-located sites confirms that GPS, albeit affected by time-correlated errors, is the most precise of the space-geodetic techniques. GPS median uncertainties are 1.1, 1.2 and 2.8 mm, for the north, east and height component, respectively. VLBI performs particularly well in the horizontal component, the median uncertainties being ≈2 mm. The height component is ∼3 times larger than the GPS one. SLR and DORIS median uncertainties exceed by far the 7 mm level on all of the three components. Comparing TCH results with station position repeatabilities, we find that the two metrics are in striking agreement for VLBI and DORIS, but not for SLR and GPS. The inconsistencies between TCH and station repeatabilities for co-located GPS and SLR point to the presence of either specific station-dependent biases or low-quality co-locations. Scaling factors derived adopting the ratio between TCH and median formal errors on the positions suggest the station position covariances have to be up-scaled for VLBI, SLR, DORIS and down-scaled for GPS. [Termes IGN] translationRésumé : (Auteur) Three-dimensional (3D) feature-matching techniques, which are essential for progress towards an automated feature-based procedure, have attracted considerable research attention in both the photogrammetry and computer vision communities. This study introduces a novel matching approach, called RSTG, that comprises four major phases: rotation alignment; scale estimation; translation alignment; and geometry checks. These steps efficiently determine a feature-based correspondence and frame transformation between datasets. RSTG analyses the similarity and relative geometry of features by employing feature observations and their uncertainty; this allows different types of features to be matched exclusively or simultaneously. This study validates the proposed method with both simulated and real datasets, demonstrating its effectiveness with satisfactory matching rates in a diverse range of feature-based point cloud registration tasks. The method makes use of the information provided by a distributed target and a corner reflector in order to jointly estimate the system polarimetric distortion parameters and the Faraday rotation. A preliminary analysis is conducted to show the expected accuracy values and to identify the intrinsic ambiguities of the problem. Results from simulations are shown to assess the accuracy and convergence of the method. Finally, tests have been conducted on stack of repeated full polarimetric ALOS PALSAR images to check the stability of the retrieved distortion parameters in a realistic case.
