[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) The suitability assessment of land use is crucial to avoid wasting land resources. However, the traditional methods with subjective weights are prone to reduce the reasonability and reliability of assessment. For filling this knowledge gap, the probability neural network (PNN) coupled with GIS was adopted to evaluate the land use suitability in this paper. According to the applications of the urban land resource, the land use was divided into three types (resident, industry and ecological reserve). Thus, the three different assessment criteria systems were built for the three land use types. The result of residential land use indicated that the most suitable, suitable and normal suitable residential land were 401, 272 and 12,406 km2 and mainly located in Changhai, Lvshun and Pulandian accordingly. The most suitable land for industry was in Ganjingzi, Jinzhou and Wafangdian and accounted for 22% of the total area. While the most suitable land for ecological reserve was in Pulandian and Zhuanghe with the area of 1967 km2. The results indicated that the south of Dalian was suitable for the residential land use, north of Dalian was suitable for the ecological land use and the central was suitable for industrial land use. The results were coincided to the actual spatial distribution of land use. The proposed PNN coupled with GIS assessment method in suitability of land use is conducted to provide a more reasonable assessment result that can be used by managers and regulators. [Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (Auteur) This article suggests a new approach to automatic building footprint modeling using exclusively airborne LiDAR data. The first part of the suggested approach is the filtering of the building point cloud using the bias of the Z‐coordinate histogram. This operation aims to detect the points of roof class from the building point cloud. Hence, eight rules for histogram interpretation are suggested. The second part of the suggested approach is the roof modeling algorithm. It starts by detecting the roof planes and calculating their adjacency matrix. Hence, the roof plane boundaries are classified into four categories: (1) outer boundary; (2) inner plane boundaries; (3) roof detail boundaries; and (4) boundaries related to the missing planes. Finally, the junction relationships of roof plane boundaries are analyzed for detecting the roof vertices. With regard to the resulting accuracy quantification, the average values of the correctness and the completeness indices are employed in both approaches. In the filtering algorithm, their values are respectively equal to 97.5 and 98.6%, whereas they are equal to 94.0 and 94.0% in the modeling approach. These results reflect the high efficacy of the suggested approach. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) L’Alpe d’Huez is a ski resort in the French Alps, and it is also famous among cyclists for the number of bends in the road to the ski resort. It is a good location to evaluate the capabilities of map generalisation tools, as the surroundings contain urban, rural and mountainous areas, and it was chosen 15 years ago as one of the four datasets to benchmark map generalisation software (Stoter et al., 2009). The EuroSDR benchmark used data from IGN France, the French National Mapping Agency (NMA). At that time, open science policies were not popular in NMAs, but now they release their dataset with open licenses, so it is a good opportunity to create an open benchmark for topographic map generalisation. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Sky radiance field at the bottom of the atmosphere and building façades are invisible in the remote sensing images, but they are the two main light sources of ground surfaces in the shadows cast by buildings in urban areas. This work is interested in evaluating the impact of the anisotropic sky and the reflection of the building on the irradiance of shaded surfaces. The assessment is based on 3D radiative transfer simulations of urban scenes with different sky radiance distributions and different building façade reflectance. The results show that without taking into account anisotropic sky, the average error of sky irradiance estimation in cast shadows can reach 183.75% in a visible band centered at 550 nm. According to the geometry and reflectivity of the building façade, the contribution of the building reflection to the irradiance of the shaded surfaces varies from 0.95% to 84.23%. Note de contenu : 1. Introduction
