[Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) Cologne Cathedral as it shows itself nowadays is one of the most famous German architectural monuments and has been Cologne's dominating landmark for centuries. The two towers are 157,4 m tall, the cathedral is 144,6 m long and 86,2 m wide. The cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne and is a spiritual centre of the religious life of the Roman Catholic Church in Germany. Due to its enormous size and being built up in pure original Gothic style, it is a Gothic masterpiece and, thus, is even one of Europe's most famous monuments. [Termes IGN] visualisationRésumé : (Auteur) This article presents the use of the frequency histogram legend (FHL) as a substitute to traditional legends in both classed and unclassed maps. Great variation in the size of mapping units can hinder reader's ability to comprehend statistical distributions from a choropleth map. Replacing conventional legends with FHL can aid readers i their understanding of spatial as well as statistical distributions of the mapped data sumultaneously. A custumized mapping application was designed in ArcInfo 9.0 to test the use of FHL in both classed and unclassed choropleth maps. Frequency histogram legends were tested on different types of statistical distributions. although the comparison of the results show that the FHL works best for a Gaussian or close to a gaussian distribution for eight or fewer classes, the customuzed application permits users to generate choropleth maps with frequency histogram legends for any type of statistical distribution with any number of classes. The analysis reveals that reader's background in statistic helped them to effectively utilize and interpret frequency histogram legends in the choropleth maps. [Termes IGN] relèvementRésumé : (Auteur) This paper provides a simple solution to the three-point resection problem in photogrammetry. it is based on Grunert's (1841) closed form solution but uses the Newton-Raphson iteration procedure, and its desirable property of quadratic convergence, to solve the quartic equation. The proposed solution is superior to closed-form solution with multiple roots. Although four-point closed form formulas also exist to define a unique solution, they are quite complex.
