[Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) In modern remote sensing applications the use of automatic image processing codes is becoming increasingly common. When dealing with satellite time series or multi-source data, image co-registration is a time-consuming, but necessary, pre-processing step. This study shows how a medium resolution satellite multitemporal dataset can be effectively processed using automatic data processing. Results on real and transformed ASTER data showed that, without human interaction, the automatic ground control points extraction (AGE) technique, developed at Politecnico di Milano, is able to obtain accuracies generally sufficient for practical applications and similar to those reported in other studies. [Termes IGN] superposition de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Obtaining information on the distribution of rural landscape types is an active research topic within Spanish rural studies. This paper presents a new hierarchical object-based classification method for the automatic detection of various land use classes in a rural area, combining lidar data and aerial images. In view of the upcoming availability of low-density lidar data (0·5 pulses/m2) for most of the territory of Spain, this paper assesses the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method for various lidar data densities. Such an assessment was conducted using two approaches: firstly, based on the final classification, which produced an overall accuracy over 96% and a kappa index above 0·95 for the combinations of the aerial image and lidar data-sets with four different densities; and secondly, based solely on the areas classified as buildings. In the second approach, the accuracy of the classification for building detection at pixel and object level was assessed. The object-oriented classification of buildings produced an index of correctness of over 99% and an index of completeness of about 95%. The results reveal a high agreement between classification and ground truth data. [Termes IGN] SIFT (algorithme)Résumé : (Auteur) Automatic image matching of satellite data is a difficult process due to the complex characteristics of such image pairs, including significant translation, rotation, scaling and illumination differences. A new method is proposed where, initially, a pre-registration is performed to coarsely align the input and reference images. Next, a dense set of corner points are extracted using the Harris operator. The strongest conjugate corner points are determined and the accuracy is improved by using least squares matching to construct a precise braced quadrilateral control network in the two images. Once the consistency of the established network pairs has been determined, it is used as a framework to match the remaining corner points. Comprehensive evaluations of the proposed method on a variety of image pairs from different sensors prove its efficiency with sub-pixel positional accuracy. [Termes IGN] photogrammétrie terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) Close range photogrammetry has proved effective as a cost-effective and easy-to-use method for cultural heritage recording. Off-the-shelf digital cameras can be used to rapidly acquire data at low cost, allowing non-experts to become more involved in their local heritage, an important aspiration identified in this collaboration between English Heritage and Loughborough University. To achieve this while also allowing for measurements in a 3D national reference system, a recording system has been developed that is capable of deriving the exterior orientation during exposure directly and cheaply. The system comprises a digital camera, a small 3D orientation sensor and a GNSS antenna, assembled in a frame that allows calibration of the offsets between the components. Test field data was used to investigate calibration precision and stability as well as achievable absolute and relative accuracy. The results of data analysis indicate that the system can meet the accuracy requirements for medium accuracy heritage recording, even with slightly unstable offset calibration values.
