Sustainable development in this context means simultaneously respecting the ecological and socio-economical value of land, judging it and finding the best suited areas to fulfil the demands. The output of the SILUP system is a categorized map which shows land use planners, where agriculturally used areas can be a target for further development. [Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (Auteur) The Japanese nationwide GPS array has dramatically improved the detectability of silent earthquakes. A method for reducing regular displacement components of GPS daily coordinate data is presented. GPS data has shown anomalous slow deformations from the Boso Peninsula, western Tokai area, and so on. The results of 7 years of observation may not give us complete knowledge about the silent earthquakes because of the short observation time. Conventional geodetic data provide supplementary information for the discussion of silent earthquakes in a longer term. The results of geodetic data analysis indicate that we will be able to accumulate more and more examples in the future. But it is just as important to keep track of small shifts, since these may have major consequences. Professionals responsible for ensuring a stable environment keep track of those ground movements that don't make the headlines; those shifts that go undetected by sight or feel. Numerous studies world-wide have revealed that these undetected movements are frequent and that they can be as fine as a shift of a few millimetres. [Termes IGN] télédétection spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) The Central Pilbara Railway (CPR) was constructed in 1992 by Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd to provide a transport link between Marandoo and the proposed Yandicoogina Mine in the Central Pilbara, Western Australia. The 400 km line connects to the port of Dampier to the huge iron ore resources in the central Pilbara and a section of nearly 100 km of the railway passes through the Karijini National Park. The main area of interest in this study is within this strip and in particular the section 500 metres either side of the railway centreline between Marandoo and the eastern boundary of the park near Juna Downs.
This study uses multi-temporal satellite data to determine the prior status and the impact on vegetation condition from the construction and operation of the CPR. This method was tested using one kilometre sub-divisions along and 100 metre segments away from the line within a 500 metre zone around the CPR.
It was found that change in vegetation condition is significantly greater closer to the railway centreline than farther away. The significant decrease in vegetation condition occurs only in the 0 to 100m segment, but not beyond and the vegetation decrease may be considered an inevitable result of the CPR. It appears that wild-fires have the greatest impact on vegetation condition in this region and the impact of the CPR is minimal by comparison.Numéro de notice : A2002-120 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/10106040208542221 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/10106040208542221 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=22035
