[Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (auteur) The aim of mining spatial co-location patterns is to find the corresponding subsets of spatial features that have strong spatial correlation in the real world. This is an important technology for the extraction and comprehension of implicit knowledge in large spatial databases. However, existing methods of co-location mining consider events as taking place in a homogeneous and isotropic context in Euclidean space, whereas the physical movement in an urban space is usually constrained by a road network. Furthermore, previous works do not take the ‘distance decay effect’ of spatial interactions into account, which may reduce the effectiveness of the result. Here we propose an improved spatial co-location pattern mining method, including the network-constrained neighborhood and addition of a distance-decay function, to find the spatial dependence between network phenomena (e.g. urban facilities). The underlying idea is to utilize a model function in the interest measure calculation to weight the contribution of a co-location to the overall interest measure instance inversely proportional to the separation distance. Our approach was evaluated through extensive experiments using facility points-of-interest data sets. The results show that the network-constrained approach is a more effective method than the traditional one in network-structured space. The proposed approach can also be applied to other human activities (e.g. traffic accidents) constrained by a street network. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) We present in this article a new method on unsupervised semantic parsing and structure recognition in peri-urban areas using satellite images. The automatic “building” and “road” detection is based on regions extracted by an unsupervised segmentation method. We propose a novel segmentation algorithm based on a Markov random field model and we give an extensive data analysis for determining relevant features for the classification problem. The novelty of the segmentation algorithm lies on the class-driven vector data quantization and clustering and the estimation of the likelihoods given the resulting clusters. We have evaluated the reachability of a good classification rate using the Random Forest method. We found that, with a limited number of features, among them some new defined in this article, we can obtain good classification performance. Our main contribution lies again on the data analysis and the estimation of likelihoods. Finally, we propose a new method for completing the road network exploiting its connectivity, and the local and global properties of the road network. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Selective omission in a road network (or road selection) means to retain more important roads, and it is a necessary operator to transform a road network at a large scale to that at a smaller scale. This study discusses the use of the supervised learning approach to road selection, and investigates how many samples are needed for a good performance of road selection. More precisely, the binary logistic regression is employed and three road network data with different sizes and different target scales are involved for testing. The different percentages and numbers of strokes are randomly chosen for training a logistic regression model, which is further applied into the untrained strokes for validation. The performances of using the different sample sizes are mainly evaluated by an error rate estimate. Significance tests are also employed to investigate whether the use of different sample sizes shows statistically significant differences. The experimental results show that in most cases, the error rate estimate is around 0.1–0.2; more importantly, only a small number (e.g., 50–100) of training samples is needed, which indicates the usability of binary logistic regression for road selection. [Termes IGN] Wuhan (Chine)Résumé : (Auteur) Intersections are the critical parts where different traffic flows converge and change directions, forming “bottlenecks” and “clog points” in urban traffic. Intersection travel time is an important parameter for public route planning, traffic management, and engineering optimization. Based on low-frequency spatial-temporal Global Positioning System (GPS) trace data, this article presents a novel method for estimating intersection travel time. The proposed method first analyzes the different travel patterns of vehicles through an intersection, then determines the range of an intersection dynamically and reasonably, and obtains traffic flow speed and delay at the intersection under different travel patterns using a fuzzy fitting approach. Finally, the average intersection travel time is estimated from traffic flow speed and delay and intersection range in different travel patterns. Wuhan road network data and GPS trace data from taxicabs were tested in the experiments and the results show that the proposed method can improve the accuracy of travel time estimation at city intersections.
