[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The weights-of-evidence model (a Bayesian probability model) was applied to the task of evaluating landslide susceptibility using GIS. Using landslide location and a spatial database containing information such as topography, soil, forest, geology, land cover and lineament, the weights-of-evidence model was applied to calculate each relevant factor's rating for the Boun area in Korea, which had suffered substantial landslide damage following heavy rain in 1998. In the topographic database, the factors were slope, aspect and curvature; in the soil database, they were soil texture, soil material, soil drainage, soil effective thickness and topographic type; in the forest map, they were forest type, timber diameter, timber age and forest density; lithology was derived from the geological database; land-use information came from Landsat TM satellite imagery; and lineament data from IRS satellite imagery. Tests of conditional independence were performed for the selection of factors, allowing 43 combinations of factors to be analysed. For the analysis of mapping landslide susceptibility, the contrast values, W+ and W-, of each factor's rating were overlaid spatially. The results of the analysis were validated using the previous landslide locations. The combination of slope, curvature, topography, timber diameter, geology and lineament showed the best results. The results can be used for hazard prevention and land-use planning. [Termes IGN] surveillance géologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper applies SAR Interferometry for ground deformation in two cases: the 1998 Zhangbei-Shangyi Earthquake in Northern China and the urban subsidence in Suzhou City from 1993 to 2000. It is concluded that SAR interferometry may provide valuable information for understanding the spatial patterns and progress of natural hazards. SAR interferometry is also critical for mechanism studies and hazard mitigation. [Termes IGN] surveillance géologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Ground settlement has long been a problem in Hong Kong, as most usable land in Hong Kong was reclaimed from the sea. Ground settlement may affect building structures and underground facilities such as water supply and sewage systems built on the land. Measurements of ground settlement can provide valuable data for assessing the impacts of ground settlement and for improving designs of future land reclamation projects. Experiments have been carried out to assess the performance of INSAR in the environment of Hong Kong especially the temporal decorrelations of SAR images and the potential atmospheric effects on INSAR measurements, and to use INSAR to study the ground settlement problem in Hong Kong. This study finds that the temporal decorrelation is an important problem in the heavily vegetated rugged areas as usually expected, and that the atmospheric effects can be very significant at times. Ground settlements measured over the airport and a residential area are presented. It can be seen from the results that both of the areas are still settling significantly in any years after the reclamation. [Termes IGN] vibrationRésumé : (Auteur) Ground response analyses are mostly used for the development of design response spectra in the modern earthquake engineering. After 1999 Marmara Earthquake, the damages were mostly related with unavailable soil conditions and this unavailability were analysed according to liquefaction analysis. In this study, granular soil which the Eskisehir urban area is located has been studied according to vibration period. Eskisehir is the city, which would be influenced negatively by the earthquake due to unavailable soil conditions and uncontrolled constructions. Five different districts of the Eskisehir municipality were included in this studied area. Characteristic site period (Ts), which is defined as the period of vibration corresponding to the fundamental frequency has been obtained for each 32 test points. GIS which is a powerful tool and technique for especially earth science, has been used for the preparation of characteristic site period map (Tf) of the studied area. After that, the number of story of each building has been determined by in-situ studies in the studied districts.
