[Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) A new generic pushbroom sensor model for high-resolution satellite images in which the orbit and attitudes are modelled by splines is presented. Direct observations for the satellite orbits and attitudes provided in imagery metadata files are used to determine the parameters of these splines. As such observations are contaminated by systematic errors, the new sensor model also incorporates error correction for the orbit and attitude angles. Camera model parameter definitions and file formats generally differ between satellite pushbroom scanners, and the system image- to object-space transformation models are not always compatible with a sensor model based on the familiar perspective model applied in photogrammetry. In order to make the new sensor model applicable to a large number of satellite imaging systems, these vendor-specific definitions are first mapped to the definitions of the new sensor model during data import. This is illustrated for QuickBird, SPOT 5 and ALOS PRISM imagery. The model has been extensively tested using imagery from these same three satellites, over test sites in Melbourne and Bhutan. The tests have shown that the new sensor model can produce georeferencing accuracy of 1 pixel and better when biases in orbit and attitude data are compensated. [Termes IGN] pas d'échantillonnage au solRésumé : (Auteur) High-resolution satellite images (HRSI) at sub-5 m footprint are becoming increasingly available. A set of algorithms for processing of HRSI has been developed at the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry (IGP), ETH Zurich and realised in a software suite called Satellite Image Precision Processing (SAT-PP). The software has been used for the processing of a number of high resolution satellite sensors, such as IKONOS, QuickBird, SPOT 5 HRS/HRG, Cartosat-1 and ALOS PRISM. PRISM is a panchromatic radiometer carried on board the Japanese ALOS satellite. It has three optical systems for forward, nadir and backward view with 2·5 m ground sample distance (GSD). The photogrammetric processing of PRISM imagery has special requirements owing to the linear array CCD sensor structure and special characteristics of the interior geometry and exterior orientation. As a member of the ALOS calibration/validation team, new algorithms for geometric processing of the PRISM images have been implemented at the IGP, in particular for the interior orientation and self-calibration. The physical sensor model in SAT-PP is refined according to the multiple camera heads of the sensor. The rigorous model for PRISM is based on a modified bundle adjustment with the possibility of using two different trajectory models. The self-calibration is introduced into the adjustment to model the systematic errors of the sensor and the system as a whole. The methods of georeferencing and digital surface model (DSM) generation were tested using the PRISM data-sets acquired over five different testfields. The rigorous sensor model performed well and resulted in sub-pixel accuracy for point positioning in all testfields. The self-calibration model has been tested in two different phases of the project separately. In the initial phase, where interior orientation data was not available, the use of the self-calibration was essential to achieve good accuracy. However, in the later phase the relative positions of the CCD chip detectors on the focal plane were provided by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the improvements by self-calibration became less significant. A detailed analysis of the DSM generation is presented in another publication. [Termes IGN] traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) This paper deals with the problem of detecting and correcting cycle-slips in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) phase data by exploiting the Bayesian theory. The method is here applied to undifferenced observations, because repairing cycle-slips already at this stage could be a useful pre-processing tool, especially for a network of permanent GNSS stations. If a dual frequency receiver is available, the cycle-slips can be easily detected by combining two phase observations or phase and range observations from a single satellite to a single receiver. These combinations, expressed in a distance unit form, are completely free from the geometry and depend only on the ionospheric effect, on the electronic biases and on the initial integer ambiguities; since these terms are expected to be smooth in time, at least in a short period, a cycle-slip in one or both the two carriers can be modelled as a discontinuity in a polynomial regression. The proposed method consists in applying the Bayesian theory to compute the marginal posterior distribution of the discontinuity epoch and to detect it as a maximum a posteriori (MAP) in a very accurate way. Concerning the cycle-slip correction, a couple of simultaneous integer slips in the two carriers is chosen by maximazing the conditional posterior distribution of the discontinuity amplitude given the detected epoch. Numerical experiments on simulated and real data show that the discontinuities with an amplitude 2 or 3 times larger than the noise standard deviation are successfully identified. This means that the Bayesian approach is able to detect and correct cycle-slips using undifferenced GNSS observations even if the slip occurs by one cycle. A comparison with the scientific software BERNESE 5.0 confirms the good performance of the proposed method, especially when data sampled at high frequency (e.g. every 1 s or every 5 s) are available. [Termes IGN] zone équatorialeRésumé : (Auteur) The fundamental issue in GPS positioning is the ability to mitigate all the potential errors and biases in the system. The atmosphere related errors of ionosphere and troposphere constitute one of these potential errors. The tropospheric effect is much more pronounced at the equatorial region due to its hot and wet conditions. This significantly affects the GPS signal due to the variability of the refractive index, which in turn affects the accuracy of GPS positioning, especially in the height components. This paper presents a study conducted in Malaysia located at the equatorial region, to investigate the impact of tropospheric delay on GPS height variation. Five GPS reference stations forming part of the Malaysian real-time kinematic GPS network (MyRTKnet) in Johor were used. RINEX data from these stations were integrated with GPS and ground meteorological data observed from a GPS station located at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), at varying antenna heights for each session of observation in four campaigns with each campaign lasting for three days. A computer program called TROPO.exe was developed based on Saastamoinen tropospheric model. The result shows variations in the height component of GPS measurement with a maximum value of 119.100 cm and a minimum value of 37.990 cm. Similarly, the results show that the tropospheric delay is a distance-dependent error which varies with changes in meteorological condition. Furthermore, the results of simulated data show a decrease in tropospheric delay with increase in antenna height. [Termes IGN] subsidenceRésumé : (Auteur) The interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) technique is used to detect surface deformations in the French Nord-Pas-de-Calais coal mining basin. Several subsiding areas had already been observed at the sites of Lens, Billy-Montigny, Courrieres and Ostricourt during the 1992-2000 period. InSAR deformation measurements are compared with ground-based levelling measurements and an analysis of the results shows a good agreement for the relative deformations. However, the InSAR study reveals a systematic bias of the absolute levelling values. Our interpretation is that the stability points of the ground-based monitoring network probably moved during the study period. Such cross-checking is particularly important considering the current legal value of the levelling measurements.
