[Termes IGN] texture d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) We use Gabor filters to extract texture features at different scales and orientations from hyperspectral images. The texture features are derived from both individual bands and combinations of bands. We consider both spectral binning and principal components analysis for reducing the dimensionality of the input data. Using a database of Airborne Visible Infrared Imaging Spectrometer image regions, we evaluate the performance of this approach for recognizing hyperspectral textures. We show that opponent features that consider combinations of spectral bands often help improve performance. We also examine the dependence of recognition performance on the dimensionality reduction strategy and the number of spectral bands.

[Termes IGN] radiomètre à hyperfréquenceRésumé : (Auteur) The Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU), and the Humidity Sounder for Brazil (HSB) form an integrated cross-track scanning temperature and humidity sounding system on the Aqua satellite of the Earth Observing System (EOS). AIRS is an infrared spectrometer/radiometer that covers the 3.7-15.4 um spectral range with 2378 spectral channels. AMSU is a 15-channel microwave radiometer operating between 23 and 89 GHz. HSB is a four-channel microwave radiometer that makes measurements between 150 and 190 GHz. In addition to supporting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's interest in process study and climate research, AIRS is the first hyperspectral infrared radiometer designed to support the operational requirements for medium-range weather forecasting of the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration's National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) and other numerical weather forecasting centers. AIRS, together with the AMSU and HSB Wcrowave radiometers, will achieve global retrieval accuracy of better than 1 K in the lower troposphere under clear and partly cloudy conditions. This paper presents an overview of the science objectives, AIRS/AMSU/HSB data products, retrieval algorithms, and the ground-data processing concepts. The EOS Aqua was launched on May 4, 2002 from Vandenberg AFB, CA, into a 705 km-high, sun-synchronous orbit. Based on the excellent radiometric and spectral performance demonstrated by AIRS during prelaunch testing, which has by now been verified during on-orbit testing, we expect the assimilation of AIRS data into the numerical weather forecast to result in significant forecast range and reliability improvements. [Termes IGN] SRTMRésumé : (Auteur) For 11 days in february 2000, the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) successfully recorded by interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data of the entire land mass of the earth between 60° N and 57° S. The data acquired in C-and X-bands are processed into the first global elevation models (DEMs) at 1 arc sec resolution, by NASA-JPL and German aerospace center (DLR), respectively. From the perspective of the STRM-X system, we give in this paper an overview of the mission and the DEM production, as well as an evaluation of the DEM product quality. Special emphasis is on challenges and peculiarities of the processing that arose from the unique designn of the STRM system, which has been the first single-pass interferometer in space. [Termes IGN] surveillance écologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The availability of hyperspectral data is going to provide new insights for environmental studies. In this study, hyperspectral data were collected for 10 land cover types with in situ measurement and leaves of 25 subtropical tree species in laboratory measurement within the 400 900 rim spectral regions in 689 bands. These bands were subsequently filtered to 138 bands for data analysis. Principal components analysis was applied to explore the inherent data dimensions. It was found that unlike most broadband sensors from which only two dimensions, brightness and greenness, could be extracted, hyperspectral data provided additional dimensions particularly along the red edge that could help identify different land covers as well as tree species. The results of tree identification using principal components analysis were comparable to those using the raw spectral bands. Hyperspectral data analysis should be a valuable tool for environmental monitoring in the tropical and subtropical environment where a large variety of flora and habitats is found.
