La question mérite d'être posée du fait du renouvellement urbain, de l'urbanisation et de la périurbanisation croissantes. Les zones inondables sont si grandes qu'il est inimaginable de les sanctuariser. [Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (Auteur) A global sensitivity analysis utilizing the extended Fourier amplitude sensitivity test is used to determine the parameter sensitivity of the L-band microwave emission of the biosphere (L-MEB) model. The results are analyzed from two perspectives of calibration and inversion. First, the parameters of surface soil moisture, soil roughness factor, vegetation optical depth at nadir, and effective land surface temperature are the four most sensitive parameters in the L-MEB model, demonstrating their possibility to be retrieved in the multiparameter retrieval approaches. Then, the high total sensitivity index (TSI) values of surface soil temperature in the analyses emphasize the importance of high-precision land surface temperature data in the surface soil moisture retrievals, especially for rougher or more vegetated surface conditions. Finally, our analysis indicates that TSI values are high for the soil surface roughness and vegetation optical depth model parameters but low for the vegetation structure, single scattering albedo, and soil roughness coefficient model parameters at incidence angles near nadir. This suggests that calibration experiments performed at small incidence angles may be appropriate for some but not all of the model parameters, which characterize the effect of soil surface roughness and vegetation on the terrestrial brightness temperature. Consequently, new calibration procedures that account for the different relative sensitivities of these model parameters at larger incidence angles may need to be developed in the future. In the present paper, we describe a new polarimetric GNSS-R system, referred to as the GLObal navigation satellite system Reflectometry Instrument (GLORI), dedicated to the study of land surfaces (soil moisture, vegetation water content, forest biomass) and inland water bodies. This system was installed as a permanent payload on a French ATR42 research aircraft, from which simultaneous measurements can be carried out using other instruments, when required. Following initial laboratory qualifications, two airborne campaigns involving nine flights were performed in 2014 and 2015 in the Southwest of France, over various types of land cover, including agricultural fields and forests. Some of these flights were made concurrently with in situ ground truth campaigns. Various preliminary applications for the characterisation of agricultural and forest areas are presented. Initial analysis of the data shows that the performance of the GLORI instrument is well within specifications, with a cross-polarization isolation better than −15 dB at all elevations above 45°, a relative polarimetric calibration accuracy better than 0.5 dB, and an apparent reflectivity sensitivity better than −30 dB, thus demonstrating its strong potential for the retrieval of land surface characteristics. [Termes IGN] mouvement de terrainRésumé : (Auteur) Remote sensing is an efficient tool for temporal monitoring of inaccessible alpine glacial terrain. This study discusses the methods of remote sensing in visible and infrared (IR) wavelengths, which are helpful in providing important information about alpine glaciers. The scope of this study covers recent advances and prospects in optical and thermal remote sensing of glacier facies, glacier velocity, mass balance, glacial hazards and automated mapping techniques. The technology is ever evolving with the advent of new remote sensors capturing data in visible/IR wavelengths and better digital computing technology. An extensive list of significant studies further helps the reader to explore a particular topic of interest. We survey recent advances in this field and additionally highlight the emerging prospects.
