[Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) This article presents exploratory research to develop new workflows that address the challenges of adequately capturing the geometry and topology of complex institutional spaces, the analysis of prescriptive evacuation plans, and the simulation of human movement and behavior in emergency scenarios. We present a collection of geovisual analytical environments that were developed to permit new ways to view and assess risk, evacuation, and human movement. Part of this research considers how different approaches to the representation of complex institutional space, using three-dimensional capture technologies at multiple resolutions (or derived from conventional formats, such as building plans), have implicit advantages or liabilities in the analysis of risk and human evacuation. We combine three-dimensional data capture methods with geographical information science theory, three-dimensional game engines, three-dimensional evacuation simulations and spatial analyses that address the variability of campus populations, and draw upon three-dimensional modeling and photogrammetry for the assessment of real-world features in digital space. The outcome of this research demonstrates agile workflows that address emergency planning requirements, but could also enable enhanced visual analysis and interactive learning by all campus citizens. Furthermore, this work reveals key considerations and limitations associated with the dynamic nature of evacuation events and the static environments in which they have been simulated. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) data of outdoor environment are typically characterised by occlusion, noise, clutter, large data size and high quantum of information which makes their classification a challenging problem. This paper presents three deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures in three dimension (3D), namely single CNN (SCN), multi-faceted CNN (MFC) and MFC with reproduction (MFCR) for automatic classification of MLS data. The MFC uses multiple facets of an MLS sample as inputs to different SCNs, thus providing additional information during classification. The MFC, once trained, is used to reproduce additional samples with the help of existing samples. The reproduced samples are employed to further refine the MFC training parameters, thus giving a new method called MFCR. The three architectures are evaluated on an ensemble of 3D outdoor MLS data consisting of four classes, i.e. tree, pole, house and ground covered with low vegetation along with car samples from KITTI dataset. The total accuracy and kappa values of classifications reached up to (i) 86.0% and 81.3% for the SCN (ii) 94.3% and 92.4% for the MFC and (iii) 96.0% and 94.6% for the MFCR, respectively. The paper has demonstrated the use of multiple facets to significantly improve classification accuracy over the SCN. Finally, a unique approach has been developed for reproduction of samples which has shown potential to improve the accuracy of classification. Unlike previous works on the use of CNN for structured point cloud of indoor objects, this work shows the utility of different proposed CNN architectures for classification of varieties of outdoor objects, viz., tree, pole, house and ground which are captured as unstructured point cloud by MLS. [Termes IGN] ville intelligenteRésumé : (auteur) 3D urban models provide convincing analytic tools for decision making, city planning, and smart city services. However, developing a fully automated method that can produce 3D building models of high quality, fidelity and accuracy is still a challenging task. Currently, most of the proposed approaches handle polyhedral roofs (consisting of planar polygons) because they assume that all roofs in a single area follow this prior. However, the reconstruction method could have its prior adapted to the roof type. In this paper, we are dealing with a specific roof case which is piecewise horizontal roofs which are very frequent in most countries of North Africa and in particular in Tunisia. Our building reconstruction method follows four main steps: building LiDAR points extraction, piecewise horizontal roof clustering, boundary creation and 3D geometric modeling. In order to prove the suitability and the effectiveness of the introduced method, experiments are conducted with real LiDAR data and aerial RGB image. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) We propose a new supervized learning framework foroversegmenting 3D point clouds into superpoints. We castthis problem as learning deep embeddings of the local ge-ometry and radiometry of 3D points, such that the border ofobjects presents high contrasts. The embeddings are com-puted using a lightweight neural network operating on thepoints’ local neighborhood. Finally, we formulate pointcloud oversegmentation as a graph partition problem withrespect to the learned embeddings. This new approach allows us to set a new state-of-the-artin point cloud oversegmentation by a significant margin, ona dense indoor dataset (S3DIS) and a sparse outdoor one(vKITTI). Our best solution requires over five times fewersuperpoints to reach similar performance than previouslypublished methods on S3DIS. Furthermore, we show thatour framework can be used to improve superpoint-basedsemantic segmentation algorithms, setting a new state-of-the-art for this task as well.
