[Termes IGN] teneur en eau de la végétationRésumé : (auteur) Leaf water content (LWC) plays an important role in agriculture and forestry management. It can be used to assess drought conditions and wildfire susceptibility. Terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) data have been widely used in forested environments for retrieving geometrically-based biophysical parameters. Recent studies have also shown the potential of using radiometric information (backscatter intensity) for estimating LWC. However, the usefulness of backscatter intensity data has been limited by leaf surface characteristics, and incidence angle effects. To explore the idea of using LiDAR intensity data to assess LWC we normalized (for both angular effects and leaf surface properties) shortwave infrared TLS data (1550 nm). A reflectance model describing both diffuse and specular reflectance was applied to remove strong specular backscatter intensity at a perpendicular angle. Leaves with different surface properties were collected from eight broadleaf plant species for modeling the relationship between LWC and backscatter intensity. Reference reflectors (Spectralon from Labsphere, Inc.) were used to build a look-up table to compensate for incidence angle effects. Results showed that before removing the specular influences, there was no significant correlation (R2 = 0.01, P > 0.05) between the backscatter intensity at a perpendicular angle and LWC. After the removal of the specular influences, a significant correlation emerged (R2 = 0.74, P Numéro de notice : A2015-890 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2015.10.001 En ligne : http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2015.10.001 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=79440

[Termes IGN] StuttgartRésumé : (auteur) OpenStreetMap (OSM) represents one of the most well-known examples of a collaborative mapping project. Major research efforts have so far dealt with data quality analysis but the modality of OSM's evolution across space and time has barely been noted. This study aims to analyze spatio-temporal patterns of contributions in OSM by proposing a contribution index (CI) in order to investigate the dynamism of OSM. The CI is based on a per cell analysis of the node quantity, interactivity, semantics, and attractivity (the ability to attract contributors). Additionally this research explores whether OSM has been constantly attracting new users and contributions or if OSM has experienced a decline in its ability to attract continued contributions. Using the Stuttgart region of Germany as a case study the empirical findings of the CI over time confirm that since 2007, OSM has been constantly attracting new users, who create new features, edit the existing spatial objects, and enrich them with attributes. This rate has been dramatically growing since 2011. The utilization of a Cellular Automata-Markov (CA-Markov) model provides evidence that by the end of 2016 and 2020, the rise of CI will spread out over the study area and only a few cells without OSM features will remain. [Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (auteur) The canopy density model (CDM), a new product interpolated from airborne laser scanner (ALS) data and dedicated to forest structure characterization is presented. It exploits both the multiecho capability of the ALS and a nonparametric density estimation technique called kernel density estimators (KDEs). The CDM is used to delineate the outmost perimeter of vegetation features and to compute forest crown cover (CrCO). Contrary to other works that focus on single-layer forest canopies, CrCo is derived here for each layer, namely, the overstory, the understory, and ground vegetation. The root-mean-square error of prediction determined by using field data acquired over 44 forest stands in a forest in Portugal allows the testing of the reliability of the method: It ranges from 6.21% (overstory) to 13.76% (ground vegetation). In addition, we investigate the ability of the CDM to map the CrCo for individual trees. Finally, two existing methods have been applied to our study site in order to assess improvements, advantages, and drawbacks of our approach.
