[Termes IGN] serveur de métadonnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Google Earth has been mentioned at least once at every meeting or conference of GIS-related professionals I've attended over the past year. It was even briefly referred to during defence of a PhD thesis on SDI clearinghouses. Google Earth is about business, technology, mapping, cartography, leveraging and integrating spatial data and internet. Reasons enough to take a closer look at the search engine from a personal geo-information perspective. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents an algorithm for the segmentation of airborne laser scanning data. The segmentation is based on cluster analysis in a feature space. To improve the quality of the computed attributes, a recently proposed neighborhood system, called slope adaptive, is utilized. Key parameters of the laser data, e.g., point density, measurement accuracy, and horizontal and vertical point distribution, are used for defining the neighborhood among the measured points. Accounting for these parameters facilitates the computation of accurate and reliable attributes for the segmentation irrespective of point density and the 3D content of the data (step edges, layered surfaces, etc.) The segmentation with these attributes reveals more of the information that exists in the airborne laser scanning data. [Termes IGN] propagation d'erreurRésumé : (Auteur) The aim of our study was to characterize statistical and spatial details of the errors in a fine toposcale DEM derived by contour data. The fine toposcale DEMs are typically represented in a 5-50 m grid and used in the application scale 1:10000-1:50000. The errors were determined by using high-quality reference data covering the entire study area from an airborne laser scanner. The work was motivated because of the essential role played by the correct characterization of DEM error in error-propagation studies. The results showed that the spatial autocorrelation of the fine toposcale DEM error was the result of a complex combination of random and systematic-like components, and its appropriate modelling by geostatistical methods is problematic because of the small extent of the areas in which the assumption of stationarity is valid. In addition, describing the shape of the DEM error distribution was impossible with a single parameter of dispersion. This was due to a large number of outliers, which suggests that more robust descriptors of the error should be used in addition to conventional error statistics. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The post-war construction of tall, modern buildings in Kyoto has generated heated debate on issues such as what kind of landscape is most beneficial for the city and how can economic progress and environmental protection go hand in hand. The author shows how the use of GIS and Virtual Reality makes it easier to communicate to stakeholders proposed changes to landscape than by 2D-maps alone ; such 4D-GIS are becoming an essential tool in building social consensus.
