[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Geospatial data modelling is dominated by the distinction between continuous-field and discrete-object conceptualizations. However, the boundary between them is not always clear, and the field view is more fundamental in some respects than the object view. By viewing a set of objects as an object field and unifying it with conventional field models, a new concept, the General Field (G-Field) model, is proposed. In this paper, the properties of G-Field models, including domain, range, and categorization, are discussed. As a summary, a descriptive framework for G-Field models is proposed. Then, some common geospatial operations in geographic information systems are reconsidered from the G-Field perspective. The geospatial operations are classified into order-increasing operations and non-order-increasing operations, depending on changes induced in the G-Field's order. Generally, the order can be viewed as an indicator of the level of information extraction of geospatial data. It is thus possible to integrate the concept of order with a geo-workflow management system to support geographic semantics. [Termes IGN] SIG participatifRésumé : (Auteur) Collaborative GIS has emerged as an efficient, spatial decision-making tool, especially when 3D GIS models are integrated. While centralized architecture is still dominating the design and development of such tools and/or systems, alternative architecture, such as peer-to-peer (P2P), and hybrids have been given increasingly more attention in designing more scalable and efficient systems. This paper presents a conceptual hybrid system architecture for the development of integrated, synchronously collaborative environments with 3D GIS tools for group decision-making and 3D information sharing. In this paper, we discuss the major design issues related to such an architectural design and identify the spatial requirements of synchronous collaborative 3D GIS. A hybrid architectural model integrating centralized and replicated computing architecture is then designed to address the identified requirements. The proposed architecture was tested using data/message flow models developed to facilitate component-based collaborative 3D GIS systems. The results show that collaborative 3D GIS require collaboration computing different from that applied in generic GIS systems, and that a component-based development approach can lead to more light-weight systems. [Termes IGN] SIG participatifRésumé : (Auteur) Collaborative GIS provides a spatially referenced negotiation environment for decision makers to put forward their perspectives, discuss their differences, and, ultimately, make decisions. Recent research has focused on enabling the representation of, and selection from among, different opinions, while discussion among people has been ignored. This paper reports on a discussion process aimed at reconciling inconsistent perspectives in distributed workgroups. The Speech Act Theory (SAT) of Austin was extended to define both non-spatial and spatial speech acts in the context of a negotiation. A coordination process was modeled by these speech acts. Then, inconsistent perspectives were reconciled using detection of inconsistency, or initial integration of perspectives, or reconciliation of collaborators. The method we propose makes it possible to effectively describe the speech acts and use them to naturally represent the reconciliation process. A prototype system based on this approach was implemented in experiments. Their results demonstrate that a good abstraction of the negotiation process will facilitate the coordination of discussion among people and provide a criterion for system designers. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Spatial optimization problems, such as route selection, usually involve multiple, conflicting objectives relevant to locations. An ideal approach to solving such multiobjective optimization problems (MOPs) is to find an evenly distributed set of Pareto-optimal alternatives, which is capable of representing the possible trade-off among different objectives. However, these MOPs are commonly solved by combining the multiple objectives into a parametric scalar objective, in the form of a weighted sum function. It has been found that this method fails to produce a set of well spread solutions by disregarding the concave part of the Pareto front. In order to overcome this ill-behaved nature, a novel adaptive approach has been proposed in this paper. This approach seeks to provide an unbiased approximation of the Pareto front by tuning the search direction in the objective space according to the largest unexplored region until a set of well-distributed solutions is reached. To validate the proposed methodology, a case study on multiobjective routing has been performed using the Singapore road network with the support of GIS. The experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the approach.
