[Termes IGN] vitesse de déplacementRésumé : (auteur) The sharing of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) tracks on the Internet is increasing enormously. Every day a great number of users capture routes using different devices and share these data. Individually these tracks present a poor positional accuracy because these devices obtain positions with accuracy of about 5-10 metres. In addition, they are usually captured for navigation and not for surveying. However, we can take advantage of the great quantity of tracks of the same linear element in order to obtain a more accurate solution. This study analyses this possibility using a wide set of tracks obtained in known conditions. We emulated those tracks obtained by Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) users and we compared the mean axis obtained using all tracks with others obtained from a more accurate source. Additionally, we analyse the displacement of other axes obtained by varying several parameters such as the number of tracks and their length or by dividing the route into sections in function of sinuosity, etc. The results have shown an improved 3D mean axis and the viability of the method proposed in this study in order to use axes obtained from several tracks in maps at certain scales. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) Cet article présente une étude comparative entre différents logiciels de photogrammétrie capables de traiter automatiquement plusieurs images pour générer un nuage de points dense dans le domaine industriel. Dans le cadre d'un projet mené dans l'entreprise Urbica 3D Laser Scanning Survey, quatre jeux de données industrielles ont été réalisés en utilisant les solutions photogrammétriques suivantes : PhotoScan, Pix4DMapper Pro, RealityCapture, MicMac, ReCap Photo et ContextCapture. Chaque jeu de données présente un nombre varié d'images, de résolutions et d'objets d'intérêt de différents niveaux de complexité industrielle. L'évaluation était basée sur trois critères principaux : la précision de l'orientation de l'image, la qualité visuelle et la précision géométrique du nuage de points dense 3D et les différentes caractéristiques du logiciel telles que le temps de traitement et la variabilité des produits de sortie. [Termes IGN] transformation linéaire directeRésumé : (Auteur) We propose using the feature points of road lamp and lane to register mobile mapping system (MMS) LiDAR points and panoramic image sequence. Road lamp and lane are the common objects on roads; the spatial distributions are regular, and thus our registration method has wide applicability and high precision. First, the road lamp and lane were extracted from the LiDAR points by horizontal grid and reflectance intensity and then by optimizing the endpoints as the feature points of road lamp and lane. Second, the feature points were projected onto the panoramic image by initial parameters and then by extracting corresponding feature points near the projection location. Third, the direct linear transformation method was used to solve the registration model and eliminate mismatching feature points. In the experiments, we compare the accuracy of our registration method with other registration methods by a sequence of panoramic images. The results show that our registration method is effective; the registration accuracy of our method is less than 10 pixels and averaged 5.84 pixels in all 31 panoramic images (4000 × 8000 pixels), which is much less than that of the 56.24 pixels obtained by the original registration method. [Vedettes matières IGN] Inventaire forestierRésumé : (auteur) Airborne laser scanning (ALS) data is nowadays often available for forest inventory purposes, but adequate field data for constructing new forest attribute models for each area may be lacking. Thus there is a need to study the transferability of existing ALS-based models among different inventory areas. The objective of our study was to apply ALS-based mixed models to estimate the diameter, height and crown base height of individual sawlog sized Scots pines (Pinus sylvestrisL.) at three different inventory sites in eastern Finland. Different ALS sensors and acquisition parameters were used at each site. Multivariate mixed-effects models were fitted at one site and the models were validated at two independent test sites. Validation was carried out by applying the fixed parts of the mixed models as such, and by calibrating them using 1–3 sample trees per plot. The results showed that the relative RMSEs of the predictions were 1.2–6.5 percent points larger at the test sites compared to the training site. Systematic errors of 2.4–6.2 percent points also emerged at the test sites. However, both the RMSEs and the systematic errors decreased with calibration. The results showed that mixed-effects models of individual tree attributes can be successfully transferred and calibrated to other ALS inventory areas in a level of accuracy that appears suitable for practical applications. Knowledge of the drivers that most influence burn severity patterns as well an accurate map of post-fire effects are key tools for forest managers in order to plan an adequate post-fire response. Remote sensing data are becoming an indispensable instrument to reach both objectives. This work explores the relative influence of pre-fire vegetation structure and topography on burn severity compared to the impact of post-fire damage level, and evaluates the utility of the Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) classifier trained with post-fire EO-1 Hyperion data and pre-fire LiDAR to model three levels of burn severity at high accuracy. We analyzed a large fire in central-eastern Spain, which occurred on 16–19 June 2016 in a maquis shrubland and Pinus halepensis forested area. Post-fire hyperspectral Hyperion data were unmixed using Multiple Endmember Spectral Mixture Analysis (MESMA) and five fraction images were generated: char, green vegetation (GV), non-photosynthetic vegetation, soil (NPVS) and shade. Metrics associated with vegetation structure were calculated from pre-fire LiDAR. Post-fire MESMA char fraction image, pre-fire structural metrics and topographic variables acted as inputs to MaxEnt, which built a model and generated as output a suitability surface for each burn severity level. The percentage of contribution of the different biophysical variables to the MaxEnt model depended on the burn severity level (LiDAR-derived metrics had a greater contribution at the low burn severity level), but MaxEnt identified the char fraction image as the highest contributor to the model for all three burn severity levels. The present study demonstrates the validity of MaxEnt as one-class classifier to model burn severity accurately in Mediterranean countries, when trained with post-fire hyperspectral Hyperion data and pre-fire LiDAR.
