[Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) Photogrammetry and lidar are two technologies complementary/or 3D reconstruction. However, the problem is that the current registration methods of optical images with lidar data cannot satisfy all the requirements for the fusion of the above two technologies, especially for close-range photogrammetry and terrestrial lidar. In this paper, we propose a novel method for registration of optical images with terrestrial lidar data, which is implemented by minimizing the distances from the photogrammetric matching points to terrestrial lidar data surface, with the collinearity equation as the basic mathematical model. One advantage of this method is that it requires no feature extraction and segmentation from the lidar data. Another advantage is that non-rigid deformation caused by lens distortion can be eliminated through the use of bundle adjustment similar to self-calibration. In addition, experiments with two different data sets show that this method cannot only eliminate the influence of certain gross errors, but also offer a high accuracy of 3 mm to 5 mm. Therefore, the proposed registration method is proved to be more effective, accurate, and reliable. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) The current advent of autostereoscopic monitors and TV screens using lenticular foil technology proves the increasing desire to visualize movies, pictures, graphics or even maps in true-3D. These techniques could expand the cartographic ‘tool box’ drastically, implying that 3D is no longer limited to the well-known representation of landform characteristics. Major map design aspects of multi-image models have been analyzed and evaluated regarding their use in thematic cartography. For map design using lenticular foil technology empirical findings are necessary to position layers adequately along the z-axis of a 3D depiction. Hovering layers may generate additional information values, which seem to be able to compensate the shortcomings in 2D maps. Several parameters or dimensions of cartographic contents can be displayed simultaneously. True-3D display techniques must be implemented in a differentiated manner to achieve positive impacts on cartographic communication. However, lenticular foil technique opens perspectives for more diverse products in thematic cartography. [Termes IGN] précision du positionnementRésumé : (Auteur) Airborne lidar systems have the potential to produce extremely accurate terrain information at high spatial densities. However, to meet stringent accuracy requirements and minimize systematic errors, proper calibration of the lidar system is required. "Boresighting" is a technique used to correct for some of these systematic errors and improve the spatial alignment of lidar passes. One challenge with boresighting is the mensuration accuracy to which a known point can be located in overlapping low density lidar strips. To address this issue, a raised Hexagonal Retro-Reflective Lidar ground Target (hrrt) is introduced. The target was optimized for precise mensuration at low point densities. The mensuration model is based on a least squares hexagon fitting approach and is proven to produce mensuration accuracies of 5 cm horizontal and 4 cm vertical (1-sigma) at ~2 pts/m2. To demonstrate a practical application, the hrrt's are used as tie points in a rigorous boresight adjustment to compute lidar strip misalignment parameters (roll, pitch, heading, and range bias). The adjustment results show that accurate boresight parameters are recovered along with their associated uncertainties. [Termes IGN] température de surfaceRésumé : (Auteur)This study assesses surface urban heat island (SUHI) effects during heat waves in subtropical areas. Two cities in northern Taiwan, Taipei metropolis and its adjacent medium-sized city, Yilan, were selected for this empirical study. Daytime and night time surface temperature and SUHI intensity of both cities in five heat wave cases were obtained from MODIS Land-Surface Temperature (LST) and compared. In order to assess SUHI in finer spatial scale, an innovated three-dimensional Urbanization Index (3DUI) with a 5-m spatial resolution was developed to quantify urbanization from a 3-D perspective using Digital Terrain Models (DTMs). The correlation between 3DUI and surface temperatures were also assessed. The results obtained showed that the highest SUHI intensity in daytime was 10.2 °C in Taipei and 7.5 °C in Yilan. The SUHI intensity was also higher than that in non-heat-wave days (about 5 °C) in Taipei. The difference in SUHI intensity of both cities could be as small as only 1.0 °C, suggesting that SUHI intensity was enhanced in both large and medium-sized cities during heat waves. Moreover, the surface temperatures of rural areas in Taipei and Yilan were elevated in the intense heat wave cases, suggesting that the SUHI may reach a plateau when the heat waves get stronger and last longer. In addition, the correlation coefficient between 3DUI and surface temperature was greater than 0.6. The innovative 3DUI can be employed to assess the spatial variation of temperatures and SUHI intensity in much finer spatial resolutions than measurements obtained from remote sensing and weather stations. In summary, the empirical results demonstrated intensified SUHI in large and medium-sized cities in subtropical areas during heat waves which could result in heat stress risks of residents. The innovative 3DUI can be employed to identify vulnerable areas in fine spatial resolutions for formulation of heat wave adaptation strategies.
