[Termes IGN] qualité d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) This paper proposes two new non-reference image quality metrics that can be adopted by the state-of-the-art image/video denoising algorithms for auto-denoising. The first metric is proposed based on the assumption that the noise should be independent of the original image. A direct measurement of this dependence is, however, impractical due to the relatively low accuracy of existing denoising method. The proposed metric thus tackles the homogeneous regions and highly-structured regions separately. Nevertheless, this metric is only stable when the noise level is relatively low. Most denoising algorithms reduce noise by (weighted) averaging repeated noisy measurements. As a result, another metric is proposed for high-level noise based on the fact that more noisy measurements will be required when the noise level increases. The number of measurements before converging is thus related to the quality of noisy images. Our patch-matching based metric proposes to iteratively find and add noisy image measurements for averaging until there is no visible difference between two successively averaged images. Both metrics are evaluated on LIVE2 (Sheikh et al. in LIVE image quality assessment database release 2: 2013) and TID2013 (Ponomarenko et al. in Color image database tid2013: Peculiarities and preliminary results: 2005) data sets using standard Spearman and Kendall rank-order correlation coefficients (ROCC), showing that they subjectively outperforms current state-of-the-art no-reference metrics. Quantitative evaluation w.r.t. different level of synthetic noisy images also demonstrates consistently higher performance over state-of-the-art non-reference metrics when used for image denoising. [Termes IGN] véhiculeRésumé : (auteur) A GPS-aided Inertial Navigation System (GAINS) is used to determine the orientation‚ position and velocity of ground and aerial vehicles. The data measured by Inertial Navigation System (INS) and GPS are commonly integrated through an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). Since the EKF requires linearized models and complete knowledge of predefined stochastic noises‚ the estimation performance of this filter is attenuated by unmodeled nonlinearity and bias uncertainties of MEMS inertial sensors. The Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) is applied based on the quaternion and Euler angles methods. A moving horizon-based estimator such as Model Predictive Observer (MPO) enables us to approximate and estimate linear systems affected by unknown uncertainties. The main objective of this research is to present a new MPO method based on the duality principle between controller and observer of dynamic systems and its implementation in AHRS mode of a low-cost INS aided by a GPS. Asymptotic stability of the proposed MPO is proven by applying Lyapunov’s direct method. The field test of a GAINS is performed by a ground vehicle to assess the long-time performance of the MPO method compared with the EKF. Both the EKF and MPO estimators are applied in AHRS mode of the MEMS GAINS for the purpose of real-time performance comparison. Furthermore‚ we use flight test data of the GAINS for evaluation of the estimation filters. The proposed MPO based on both the Euler angles and quaternion methods yields better estimation performances compared to the classic EKF. Note de contenu : 1- Introduction

[Termes IGN] signal GPSRésumé : (auteur) Aside from intentional interference, multipath is the most significant error source for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) receivers in many operational scenarios. In this thesis, we study the multipath estimation from two different perspectives: to retrieve useful information from it using GNSS-Reflectometry (GNSS-R) techniques; and to mitigate its effects or to estimate its direction-of-arrival (DOA) as well as the line-of-sight (LOS) signal’s using synthetic aperture (SA) processing. The first part of the thesis focuses on precision bounds for GNSS-R techniques for groundbased receivers, in scenarios where a single antenna simultaneously receives the LOS signal and a specular reflection. First, we derive the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) of the receiver’s
height and the reflection coefficient, with the latter depending on the surface’s electrical properties. More specifically, we propose a CRB derivation applicable to GNSS-R techniques that make use of the phase information and long observation times, such as the interference pattern technique (IPT). The derivation is based on the parameter transformation of the Fisher information matrix. We study the dependence of the computed CRB on the scenario and the receiver bandwidth. The CRB results for the simulated scenarios are consistent with
the precision reported for many GNSS-R techniques used in these scenarios. The proposed CRB is meant to benchmark and compare new and existing techniques. Besides the derived CRB, we propose an algorithm to obtain the maximum-likelihood (ML) estimator of the parameters of interest with the IPT: the segmented ML estimator (SML). The SML transforms a complex multivariate optimization problem into multiple simpler ones
by dividing the parameter search space taking advantage of the cost function’s particular structure. The SML is validated with simulated signal and asymptotically cross-validates the CRB results. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the study of the SA processing of GNSS signals. The goal is to estimate the DOA of the signals received, and mitigate errors in the navigation solution caused by interfering signals, such as multipath. We start by deriving the CRB for the SA context, as a function of the antenna trajectory. This CRB considers the effect of the antenna complex gain, and we show in simulations that it is possible to achieve meaningful DOA estimation only by changing the antenna’s orientation. We continue by proposing a development framework built upon a signal tracking architecture integrating SA processing. Before any SA processing, it is necessary to estimate and compensate any carrier phase contribution not related to the antenna motion. To do so, we propose two
new sequential techniques based on the extended Kalman filter (EKF). Also, we develop an open-loop version of the proposed SA tracking architecture, more robust than its closed-loop counterpart. Finally, we validate the proposed architecture and SA-based techniques with synthetic GPS signals at first, and then with real signals, recorded using an antenna mounted on a mechanical rotating arm. The obtained results validate the implemented techniques and show how the proposed SA architecture can ultimately mitigate the position bias error observed in environments with severe multipath interference.Note de contenu : 1- Introduction

In this method, the INS provides the dynamic information of the land vehicle, which is used to predict the position and attitude of cameras in order to obtain the predicted pixel coordinates of features on the image. The difference between the measured and predicted pixel coordinates is used to reduce the accumulated errors of INS. To implement the proposed method, an Extended Kalman filter (EKF) is first used to integrate the inertial and visual sensor data. The integrated solution of position, velocity and azimuth is then applied by fuzzy logic map matching (MM) to project the vehicle location on the correct road link. The projected position on the road link and the road link azimuth can finally be used to reduce the dead reckoning drifts. In this way, the accumulated system errors can be significantly reduced. The testing results indicate that the horizontal RMSE (root-mean-square-error) of the proposed method is less than 20 meters over a traveled distance of five kilometers and the relative horizontal error is below 0.4 percent.
