[Termes IGN] véhicule sans piloteRésumé : (Auteur) This work introduces a Mobile Stereo Mapping System (MSMS) designed for remote operation onboard unmanned vehicles for navigation and rapid collection of 3D spatial data through direct georeferencing and integration of optical and multiple navigation sensors. By avoiding the need for ground control points, the system offers a low-cost mapping solution for both kinematic and static cases, rapid deployments, high data resolutions, and low risk to operators. Position estimation of the camera is based on differential GPS, loosely coupled in a Kalman filter with a low-cost Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). Attitude is estimated from gyroscope data, aided by accelerometer and magnetometer data to compensate for gyro drift. Two low-cost consumer digital cameras are calibrated and time-synchronized with the GPS/IMU to provide directly georeferenced stereo imagery. The MSMS determines mapping coordinates using photogrammetric solutions modified for direct georeferencing. A calibration process has been developed for the sensor components and the integrated system itself to determine systematic errors and biases, and to determine the relative geometry of the sensors. Object space accuracies (Root Mean Square Error (RMSE)) in the range of 1/100 at camera-to-object distances of about 30m were achieved using wide baseline overlapping images taken from two separate positions of the stereo-metric MSMS. The system design and the calibration and mapping accuracy of the MSMS are presented and assessed using field testing. [Termes IGN] télémètre laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) At present, several papers discuss the accuracy and precision of terrestrial laser scanners (TLSs), but the research continues to focus on the behavior of the TLSs. The purpose of this paper is to propose a method to evaluate the uncertainty of a TLS (FARO Photon 80). A rigid and transportable aluminum structure with 28 black-and-white targets was designed for this purpose. The structure was scanned 12 times at several distances from 2 to 70 m, and the x, y, and z coordinates of the center of the targets were automatically identified. Data were analyzed by means of circular and spherical statistics using R modules programmed in our research group. Analysis reveals that 3-D spatial distribution has a stratified pattern in the Z-axis. Regardless of the scanner status, these results indicate that these analyses should be performed periodically because they can have an impact on some studies. The proposed methodology is robust and simple and can be performed with free software such as the R modules used in this work. [Termes IGN] surcharge océaniqueRésumé : (Auteur) Ocean bottom pressure (OBP) changes are caused by a redistribution of the ocean’s internal mass that are driven by atmospheric circulation, a change in the mass entering or leaving the ocean, and/or a change in the integrated atmospheric mass over the ocean areas. The only previous global analysis investigating the magnitude of OBP surface displacements used older OBP data sets (van Dam et al. in J Geophys Res 129:507–517, 1997). Since then significant improvements in meteorological forcing models used to predict OBP have been made, augmented by observations from satellite altimetry and expendable bathythermograph profiles. Using more recent OBP estimates from the Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean (ECCO) project, we reassess the amplitude of the predicted effect of OBP on the height coordinate time series from a global distribution of GPS stations. OBP-predicted loading effects display an RMS scatter in the height of between 0.2 and 3.7 mm, larger than previously reported but still much smaller (by a factor of 2) than the scatter observed due to atmospheric pressure loading. Given the improvement in GPS hardware and data analysis techniques, the OBP signal is similar to the precision of weekly GPS height coordinates. We estimate the effect of OBP on GPS height coordinate time series using the MIT reprocessed solution, mi1. When we compare the predicted OBP height time series with mi1, we find that the scatter is reduced over all stations by 0.1 mm on average with reductions as high as 0.7 mm at some stations. More importantly we are able to reduce the scatter on 65 % of the stations investigated. The annual component of the OBP signal is responsible for 80 % of the reduction in scatter on average. We find that stations located close to semi-enclosed bays or seas are affected by OBP loading to a greater extent than other stations. [Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we present a hybrid image/laser multi-sensor mobile mapping system allowing to capture a spatial data infrastructure which is compliant with several applications ranging from multimedia immersive visualisation to 3D metrology across the web. We detail the design of the system, its sensors, its architecture, and its calibration. We also present a web-based service on the acquired data that allows immersive street navigations but also 3D plotting tools that can allow a client to enrich his own databases. We also address some data processing issues related to privacy, i.e. pedestrian and car plate detection and blurring, that are mandatory for the dissemination of data through web-based consumer applications.
