[Termes IGN] radar à antenne synthétiqueRésumé : (auteur) Change detection (CD) is a crucial topic in many remote sensing applications. In the recent years, satellite polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) systems (e.g., the Sentinel-1 constellation) became a suitable tool for multitemporal monitoring due to the regular acquisitions with a short revisit time in different polarimetric channels. Methods for CD in PolSAR data mainly focus on binary CD (i.e., they provide information about the presence/absence of change only), whereas the polarimetric enhanced information provides multiple features that can be exploited for performing multiclass CD. In this article, we introduce a novel framework for the characterization of multitemporal changes in dual-polarimetric data. The framework is based on the definition of polarimetric change vectors (PCVs) and their representation in a polar coordinate system. PCVs allow characterizing and, thus, to separate multiclass changes in terms of target properties of the single-time scenes and the scattering theory. The proposed model is used to: 1) derive the statistical behaviors of change and no change classes in PolSAR multitemporal images; 2) design an automatic and unsupervised strategy to estimate the optimal number of changes; and 3) distinguish no change from change classes and the kinds of change from each other. An experimental analysis has been conducted on three multitemporal PolSAR data sets having different complexities in terms of number and kinds of change classes. The results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach and the better performance with respect to both specific techniques for CD in dual-pol SAR data and a general multiclass CD method, not designed for PolSAR data. [Termes IGN] sonarRésumé : (Auteur) Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) is a sensor that was designed for hydrographic survey of the seabed. It detects small targets, enabling high geometric resolution images. However, the images generated by SAS are susceptible to speckle noise, which makes digital processing difficult, since the noises are confused with the targets of interest. The goal of this study was to develop a semi-automatic routine for SAS image processing to verify the structural integrity of submarine pipelines. The method presented incorporates four stages: pre-processing to reduce noise and highlight the targets of interest; extraction of features aiming to recognize features related to the pipelines; post-processing to reduce the fragmentation generated during feature extraction; validation to quantify the results from the reference images to estimate the performance of the proposed methodology. The results showed that more than 80% of the submarine pipelines were mapped in the semi-automatic mode, which considerably reduced the time needed to manually identify a large number of pipelines operating on offshore oilfields. [Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (auteur) The Ladybug5 is an integrated, multi‐camera system that features a near‐spherical field of view. It is commonly deployed on mobile mapping systems to collect imagery for 3D reality capture. This paper describes an approach for the geometric modelling and self‐calibration of this system. The collinearity equations of the pinhole camera model are augmented with five radial lens distortion terms to correct the severe barrel distortion. Weighted relative orientation stability constraints are added to the self‐calibrating bundle adjustment solution to enforce the angular and positional stability between the Ladybug5’s six cameras. Centimetre‐level 3D reconstruction accuracy can be achieved, with image‐space precision and object‐space accuracy improved by 92% and 93% , respectively, relative to a two‐term lens distortion model. Sub‐pixel interior orientation stability and millimetre‐level relative orientation stability were also demonstrated over a 10‐month period. Single-channel algorithm (SCA) and dual-channel algorithm (DCA) are implemented for the processing of SMAP radiometer data. The SCA using the vertically polarized brightness temperature (SCA-V) has been providing satisfactory SM retrievals. However, the DCA using prelaunch design and algorithm parameters for vertical and horizontal polarization data has a marginal performance. In this article, we show that with the updates of the roughness parameter h and the polarization mixing parameters Q , a modified DCA (MDCA) can achieve improved accuracy over DCA; it also allows for the retrieval of vegetation optical depth (VOD or τ ). The retrieval performance of MDCA is assessed and compared with SCA-V and DCA using four years (April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2019) of in situ data from core validation sites (CVSs) and sparse networks. The assessment shows that SCA-V still outperforms all the implemented algorithms. [Termes IGN] spectroradiomètreRésumé : (auteur) Unmanned aircraft system (UAS)-mounted spectroradiometers offer a new capability to measure spectral reflectance and solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence at detailed canopy scales. This capability offers potential for upscaling and comparison with airborne and space-borne observations [e.g., the upcoming European Space Agency (ESA) Fluorescence Explorer (FLEX) satellite mission]. In this respect, the accurate spatial characterization and georeferencing of the UAS acquisition footprints are essential to unravel the origin and spatial variability of optical signals acquired within the extent of airborne/satellite pixels. In this article, we present and validate a novel algorithm to georeference the footprint extent of a nonimaging spectroradiometer mounted on a multirotor UAS platform. We used information about the spectroradiometer position and orientation during flight and about topography of observed terrain to calculate the footprint geolocation. In a recursive process, the field of view (FOV) of the spectroradiometer projected on the ground. Multiple FOV ground projections retrieved during a spectroradiometer reading (i.e., a single integration time) were aggregated to calculate the footprint extent. The spatial accuracy of the footprint geolocation was validated by applying the georeferencing algorithm on checkpoint pixels of image acquired with a comounted digital camera. Geolocations of the checkpoint pixels, which served as a proxy for the spectroradiometer footprint, were successfully compared with surveyed ground checkpoints. Finally, the spectral and radiometric quality of UAS-acquired reflectance signatures was compared with ground-measured reflectance of four natural targets (three different types of grass and a bare soil), and a strong agreement was observed.
