[Termes IGN] traitement de semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) The use of point clouds in extracting data for building information modelling (BIM) has become common recently. Managers of older buildings are working to centralise information. Documentation about mechanical installations, plumbing, electricity, and previous interventions is often stored on scattered media, frequently still on paper. In the transformation of the material world into the digital world, the point cloud is the starting point, containing information about the material world obtained by various means such as photogrammetry, terrestrial or aerial laser scanning. Manual BIM modelling for management, maintenance and future use is a time-consuming and error-prone process. We would like to automate this process and avoid these errors. Recently, there have been developed an increasing number of stand-alone programmes and add-ons that provide automated, fast, and more accurate modelling based on point cloud data. In this paper, we present an investigation into the possibilities for automating the creation of BIM models from point cloud data. The result is a semi-automated process for modelling individual BIM elements, which we have tested on specific examples of modelling individual elements (walls, pipes, and columns). We note that despite the automation of the process, a high level of user interaction is still required to produce good quality models. [Termes IGN] scène urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) Mobile lidar scanning is one of the recent technologies that is used to map street scenes rapidly. Among street objects, utility-poles are more critical to energy companies to monitor regularly through time. This paper presents a novel approach to detect utility-poles from mobile lidar data in complex city scenes. After removing ground points, the scene is gridded into blocks based on a shared-partitioning algorithm. Next, an interwoven column generation algorithm is used to create columns. Finally, each of these columns is considered to be a utility-pole or not. The proposed algorithm is tested on two test areas. The algorithm achieved Completeness, Correctness and Quality of 92.8%, 97.5% and 90.6% in Area 1, and 92.8%, 92.2% and 86.1% in Area 2. The total number of utility-poles in both areas was 265. The algorithm shows promising results in utility-pole detection in complex city scenes with attached walls. [Termes IGN] triangulationRésumé : (auteur) This paper outlines a new framework for the calibration of optical instruments, in particular smartphone cameras, using highly redundant circular black-and-white target fields. New methods were introduced for (i) matching targets between images; (ii) adjusting the systematic eccentricity error of target centres; and (iii) iteratively improving the calibration solution through a free-network self-calibrating bundle adjustment. The proposed method effectively matched circular targets in 270 smartphone images, taken within a calibration laboratory, with robustness to type II errors (false negatives). The proposed eccentricity adjustment, which requires only camera projective matrices from two views, behaved comparably to available closed-form solutions, which require additional a priori object-space target information. Finally, specifically for the case of mobile devices, the calibration parameters obtained using the framework were found to be superior compared to in situ calibration for estimating the 3D reconstructed radius of a mechanical pipe (approximately 45% improvement on average). [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (éditeur) The Special Issue on Advances in Modeling and Management of Urban Water Networks (UWNs) explores four important topics of research in the context of UWNs: asset management, modeling of demand and hydraulics, energy recovery, and pipe burst identification and leakage reduction. In the first topic, the multi-objective optimization of interventions on the network is presented to find trade-off solutions between costs and efficiency. In the second topic, methodologies are presented to simulate and predict demand and to simulate network behavior in emergency scenarios. In the third topic, a methodology is presented for the multi-objective optimization of pump-as-turbine (PAT) installation sites in transmission mains. In the fourth topic, methodologies for pipe burst identification and leakage reduction are presented. As for the urban drainage systems (UDSs), the two explored topics are asset management, with a system upgrade to reduce flooding, and modeling of flow and water quality, with analyses on the transition from surface to pressurized flow, impact of water use reduction on the operation of UDSs, and sediment transport in pressurized pipes. The Special Issue also includes one paper dealing with the hydraulic modeling of an urban river with a complex cross-section. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) This study presents a water accumulation diffusion algorithm to spatially simulate rainstorm-induced waterlogging for people’s lives and property safety. Taking part of Jinfeng District in Yinchuan City, China, as a study area, a storm water management model (SWMM) model is constructed with the aid of geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) technologies. GIS is used to divide sub-catchments, generalize drainage system, set parameters, construct spatial geodatabase, and identify flood extents and depths. RS is used to obtain land-use/land-cover information. The water accumulation diffusion algorithm is then designed using the strategies of the dynamic interactions between pipes and surface and between central pixel and its neighbourhood pixels to transform water accumulation volume of sub-catchment into the submerged range and water accumulation depth. Positions, extents, depths, and volumes of water accumulation from pipe network and surface are simulated, respectively. The spatial simulation precisions of rainstorm waterlogging from the pipe network and surface are verified according to the measured and cyber rainstorm data, respectively. The results show that (1) the number of water accumulation nodes increases with the increase of rainfall intensity; (2) urban waterlogging is mainly distributed in the intersects of roads, low depressions and the aged drainage networks; and (3) spatial simulation of urban rainstorm waterlogging based on the GIS, RS, and SWMM techniques and the water accumulation diffusion algorithm is reliable. The results can provide decision-makings to predict rainstorm waterlogging, design drainage network, and construct a sponge city.
