[Termes IGN] rayonnement proche infrarougeRésumé : (Auteur) This study integrated environmental variables together with high spectral resolution WorldView-2 imagery to detect and map Thaumastocoris peregrinus damage in Eucalypt plantation forests in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The WorldView-2 bands, vegetation indices and environmental variables were entered separately into PLS regression models to predict T. peregrinus damage. The datasets were then integrated to test the collective strength in predicting T. peregrinus damage. Important variables were identified by variable importance (VIP) scores and were re-entered into a PLS regression model. The VIP model was then extrapolated to map the severity of damage and predicted T. peregrinus damage with an R2 value of 0.71 and a RMSE of 3.26% on an independent test dataset. The red edge and near-infrared bands of the WorldView-2 sensor together with the temperature dataset were identified as important variables in predicting T. peregrinus damage. The results indicate the potential of integrating WorldView-2 data and environmental variables to improve the mapping and monitoring of insect outbreaks in plantation forests. The result is critical for plantation health monitoring using a new sensor which contains important vegetation wavelengths. [Termes IGN] traitement d'image radarRésumé : (éditeur) The aim of this book is to demonstrate the use of SAR data in three application domains, i.e. land cover (Part II), topography (Part III), and land motion (Part IV). These are preceded by Part I, where an extensive and complete review on speckle and adaptive filtering is provided, essential for the understanding of SAR images. Part II is dedicated to land cover mapping. Part III is devoted to the generation of Digital Elevation Models based on radargrammetry and on a wise fusion (by considering sensor characteristic and acquisition geometry) of interferometric and photogrammetric elevation data. Part IV provides a contribution to three applications related to land motion. Note de contenu : 1- Adaptive speckle filtering in radar imagery
2- Large scale mapping of forests and land cover with synthetic aperture radar data

[Termes IGN] relation spatialeRésumé : (auteur) [introduction] One kind of map commonly produced from the always increasing volume of available data is made of “base” data acting as a backdrop map used for localisation purpose, on which data related to a particular theme, of interest for the user, are overlaid (Jaara et al. 2011; Moseme and van Elzakker 2012). In the rest of the paper, we call “data layer” a dataset stemming from one source (authoritative or VGI), here considered internally consistent – i.e. reliability and redundancy issues underlined by Sester et al. (2014) in the case of VGI data have been handled before. We call maps composed of several data layers (each stemming from one source), thematically multi-sourced maps. Here, we consider maps composed of two data layers: one base layer and one thematic layer. Most thematic maps have been based on this two layers principle for decades (and were multi-sourced), but they have long been made mainly by cartographic experts (Das et al. 2012). Recently, making and publishing such maps has become much easier. Their potential is huge for the users, however, the risk is huge to produce maps that are hardly legible or interpretable and can lead to bad decision making (Jaara et al. 2011; Das et al 2012; Gaffuri 2011; Balley et al. 2014; Sester et al. 2014).
