[Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (auteur) The study aims to find a low-cost alternate technology to get imagery, using mobile platform, and produce digital orthophoto for corridor mapping, with a higher degree of accuracy and which can reduce the lag time of acquisition of data. The present study uses digital single-lens reflex cameras, mounted on a mobile vehicle, and acquisition of data in the video format rather than still photographs, as traditionally used in mobile mapping systems. The videos are used to create a set of images and orthophotos. A widespread ground control points were recorded in the study area, using the global navigation satellite system receiver, which measured the control points in real-time kinematic mode. Generation of digital orthophoto has been completed using the captured mobile imagery and ground control point. Furthermore, procurement of satellite imagery and aerial triangulation using ground control points have been done. While comparing the planimetric accuracy of orthophoto against satellite imagery using the ground control points, the achieved root mean square error value of produced orthophoto is 0.171 m in X axis and 0.205 m in Y axis. However, for Cartosat -1 satellite imagery, the RMSE value for X is 1.22 m and for Y is 1.98 m. This research proposes the alternate low-cost mobile mapping method to capture the imagery for orthophoto production. The cost of orthophoto production from mobile image was found 77% cheaper than the orthophoto cost from fresh/latest satellite imagery procurement, while the overall production was 70% cost-effective than the orthophoto maps made from archived imagery. [Termes IGN] précision géométrique (imagerie)Résumé : (auteur) This paper introduces a method based on centroid clustering and contour analysis to extract area and height measurements on buildings from the 3D model generated by oblique images. The method comprises three steps: (1) extract the contour plane from the fused data of the digital surface model (DSM) and digital orthophoto map (DOM); (2) identify building contour clusters based on the number of centroids contained in each category determined by mean-shift centroid clustering; (3) remove the mis-identified contours in a given building contour cluster by a contour analysis and obtain the geometric information of the building using map algebra. The proposed approach was tested against four datasets. Compared with other results, the detection has effective completeness, correctness, quality, and higher geometric accuracy. The maximum average relative error of building height and area extraction is less than 8%. The method is fast for a large-scale collection of building attributes and improves the applicability of oblique photography in GIS. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) An image-map is a compromise between an image and a map. The quality of such maps is affected by several factors, such as (a) the matching between the features on images and the graphic symbols from maps, (b) the complexity of background images, and (c) the representation of graphic and text symbols on the images. This project deals with the first issue. The current solution is that the accuracy of images should satisfy the accuracy standard of maps. However, images with different resolutions can satisfy the standard for a specific map scale. This may lead to a situation in which the levels of detail (LoD) in images may not match the complexity of map features although the planimetric accuracy is matched. To solve this problem, we developed a complexity-based matching between the image resolution and map scale. More precisely, the matching is based on the complexity of line features. Experimental evaluations were conducted in 15 representative areas in Hong Kong using maps at seven scales and eight image resolutions. Results show that the proposed complexity-based method is capable of obtaining good matching between image resolution and map scale in terms of both accuracy and users’ preference. [Termes IGN] transformation intensité-teinte-saturationRésumé : (auteur) The traditional hill-shading map is usually produced from a digital elevation model (DEM) by using the method of hypsometric tinting, which is capable of demonstrating the changes in geomorphology by setting the colors for hill-shading. However, the disadvantage is obvious that the surface features of the terrain can only be utilized by putting vector data on the map. Hence, the terrain display effect will be altered, especially in the production of large-scale maps, for which the artistic effect will be greatly weakened. This paper proposes a solution to this problem. First, we transform the RGB color space of the Digital orthophotographic map (DOM) image into the intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) color space. Then, we calculate the new value of the intensity as I′ for each pixel of the shaded relief model (SRM) of the high-resolution remote sensing image. Finally, we replace the component I with the new component I′ and then proceed with the inverse IHS transform. The case study shows that an objective representation of the actual situation is presented in the mapping area, and the 3D performance capabilities are enhanced. This research indicates that when the method of fusing the processed SRM with the IHS color system is used, the optimum index factor (OIF) and entropy of the generated map are 41.26 and 12.05, respectively, which are much greater than for the results of the traditional method. In other words, the proposed method can greatly enhance the terrain effect.
