[Termes IGN] photo-interprétationRésumé : (Auteur) Dans le cadre d'un projet de coopération entre la France et la Côte d'Ivoire, l'Institut Géographique National a été chargé d'étudier les modalités de mise à jour d'une base de données sur la ville de Bouaké en utilisant des images satellitaires. L'intérêt de cette étude est de montrer que l'apport des données satellitaires dépend de la maîtrise du traitement de l'image en milieu urbain, de la gestion simultanée d'informations issues de différentes sources (images, cartes, fichiers statistiques) ainsi que du type de ville observé. Les informations à collecter ainsi que l'unité géographique de collecte doivent prendre en compte à la fois les besoins des utilisateurs et les particularités des différentes sources d'informations. En milieu urbain, l'analyse morphologique de l'image se révèle indispensable pour choisir l'unité géographique de collecte de l'information et pour réaliser une stratification de l'espace urbain selon un regroupement d'îlots par type de tissus.
