[Termes IGN] zone à risqueRésumé : (Auteur) The model we show in order to obtain a Forest Fire Risk Assessment combines two kinds of analysis involving NDVI and surface temperature. The University of Valladolid Remote Sensing Laboratory (LATUV) is equipped with a NOAA image receiver, and the risk pattern is practically automated ; in this way after receiving the satellite image on a daily basis and applying the above-mentioned algorithms, detailed maps are produced with information relating to local distribution over the whole country, with Forest Fire Risk levels. This information is very useful to the Fire Prevention Services of the Autonomous Communities during the summer season, when the incidence of forest fires is high. This Risk Assessment is also determined for Portugal, Italy and the mediterranean areas of France. [Termes IGN] ventRésumé : (Auteur) Different natural factors make the Mediterranean ecosystem specially vulnerable to forest wildfires: the weather, with extremely long dry summers; the strong winds, which dry the soil and vegetation and spread the fire once it has begun; the abrupt topography and finally, the human factor. In late spring, May 30 to June 4 in 1995, a wildfire broke burning an area of 1800 ha called "EI Madrofialejo" (Sevilla). This area is characterized for his rough topography, with deep narrow valleys. One month and half later, an area of 1500 ha of forest was burnt in Sierra Benneja, (Malaga). The development of temperature and vegetation index maps from the daily NOAAAVHRR sensor databases, and the synoptical meteorological maps analysis, enable the study of increase in temperature and the NDVI decrease of the previous days and during the fire, as well as the climatic conditions of those dates. [Termes IGN] sécheresseRésumé : (Auteur) In this work, we combine spatial data from a Digital Forest Map of Spain, the Second National Forest Inventory and TM images to explore the differences in the spectral response of several vegetation types in three years with strong differences in water availability. The results point to the possibility of discrimination between dry and humid years based on the NDVI, although drought conditions affect in different ways to the several vegetation types. [Termes IGN] teneur en eau de la végétationRésumé : (Auteur) Fuel Moisture Content (FMC) for Mediterranean species was measured and correlated with laboratory radiometry, NOAA-AVHRR and Landsat-TM images. The best variable related to FMC was the quotient between the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index and Surface Temperature (NDVI/ST). Two other indices derived from Landsat's SWIR bands also showed good correlation. Two multiple regression equations to derive a synthetic FMC for grassland and shrubs are presented, with r values of 0.61.
