Le site d'étude se situe au Nord-Est de la Guinée Conakry (Longitude : 9° à 11°N, latitude : 10° à 12°W). C'est une zone en contexte équatoriale, la couverture végétale est essentiellement de type savane. L'importance stratégique de certains thèmes géographiques comme par exemple les ressources en eau (permanentes ou temporaires), la traficabilité (infrastructures et formations superficielles), les agglomérations et les indicateurs de ressources minières, ainsi que l'évolution rapide en fonction du temps de certains d'entre eux, rendent nécessaire le développement d'un outil automatique ou semiautomatique de mise à jour des différents thèmes. Nous proposons dans le cadre de cette étude d'évaluer le potentiel de différents capteurs radars (ERS et SIR-C) ainsi que le gain apporté par l'utilisation combinée d'images acquises à différentes saisons. L'interprétation visuelle des images a permis de mettre en évidence les différents objets présents sur la zone d'étude (alluvions, cuirasse, eau, forêt, savane arborée, village). A partir de cette interprétation, une classification par maximum de vraisemblance a été réalisée sur chaque combinaison d'images. Différentes configurations radars (fréquence, polarisation, angle d'incidence) ont ainsi été testées dans cette étude. Les résultats montrent le caractère opérationnel des images radars pour la cartographie avec des données multi-fréquence, multi-polarisées et multi-dates. La meilleure configuration radar utilisée a permis d'atteindre 90 Olo de précision. Par contre, les capteurs radars actuels possèdent une seule fréquence et une seule polarisation et ne permettent pas une cartographie de l'occupation du sol satisfaisante. On montre également dans cette étude une plus grande richesse d'information pour la bande L que pour la bande C du radar. Il serait intéressant de disposer à l'avenir de la bande L pour réaliser une mise à jour de cartes dans des zones difficilement accessibles. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] Maroc (ANF)Résumé : (Auteur) La principale fonction des interventores (contrôleurs) du Protectorat espagnol au Maroc entre 1912 et 1956 a consisté à surveiller l’action des autorités tribales marocaines pour asseoir la présence coloniale. Cependant, le Haut-Commissariat d’Espagne au Maroc leur a souvent demandé de préparer des rapports d’ordre économique, social ou à finalité militaire sur les tribus, généralement mal connues de l’autorité coloniale. Ces documents contiennent des cartes de qualité variée qui ont pu constituer un instrument précieux de contrôle et, dans certains cas, un outil de propagande au service de l’action coloniale espagnole.
